The Role
At Swyftx, we're not just building a fintech scaleup; we're shaping the future of Australia's digital currency industry. With over 800,000 users, we have our sights set high, aiming to be Australia's most trusted cryptocurrency trading platform, bridging the gap between defi and tradfi and expanding to become Australia’s next global success story.

We are seeking a Director of Risk and Compliance to join Swyftx. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring Swyftx adheres to regulatory requirements and industry standards while proactively identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential risks. Reporting to the General Counsel, you’ll play a key role in embedding and uplifting compliance and risk frameworks, driving continuous improvement, and fostering a culture of integrity and accountability.

You are a forward-thinking leader with extensive experience in compliance and risk management in the Australian and New Zealand regulatory environment. Ideally you also have experience working across, or within other international jurisdictions and you’re excited by the challenge of navigating complex regulatory landscapes while enabling innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve risk and compliance frameworks to support Swyftx’s growth and sustainability.
  • Provide strategic guidance and oversight on risk management, compliance policies, and regulatory matters for regulated and unregulated activities.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies, including ASIC, and manage all engagements, ensuring adherence to regulatory obligations.
  • Lead the design and execution of risk assessments in areas including AML/KYC, consumer protection and data protection assessments, to align with local regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and update risk registers, facilitate workshops and provide training to embed a strong compliance and risk culture across the organisation.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing team, fostering collaboration and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

To be successful you will have:

  • Relevant experience in risk management, compliance, or a related field, with deep knowledge of the Australian regulatory environment and financial services regulation.
  • Extensive experience in financial markets gained from equivalent roles in regulated financial services businesses operating in Australia and New Zealand.
  • Demonstrable experience working with ASIC, including a strong understanding of ASIC’s supervisory approach and key regulatory requirements.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain compliance frameworks and policies, including ensuring ongoing alignment and compliance with internationally derived regulatory requirements.
  • Expertise in managing implementation or ongoing compliance with AFSL related requirements, with a proven ability to uplift and embed compliance programs and risk frameworks.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to upskill teams, influence stakeholders, and build a culture of accountability and integrity.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and challenge senior stakeholders effectively.
  • A proactive and strategic mindset, with the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment while maintaining high levels of compliance and operational excellence.

Some of our perks and benefits include:

  • Fully stocked kitchen, breakfast and lunch foods, unlimited fresh fruit and snacks.
  • An inhouse barista and weekly catered lunches on a Wednesday.
  • Unlimited fee-free trading.
  • Career growth, training, mentorship, and development opportunities.
  • Social activities, game breaks and end of month awards.

At Swyftx, we're not just building a diverse and dynamic environment; we're celebrating it. We value and embrace the unique experiences, qualities, and characteristics that each member of our team brings, and we're committed to cultivating an inclusive workspace where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to do their best work.
