Director Responsible Investment (RI) Strategist

In this role you will take shared responsibility for the full spectrum of ESG topics. This encompasses strategic initiatives—including policy development for climate action, impact investing, exclusion criteria, and biodiversity—as well as operational elements such as ESG reporting and compliance with regulatory frameworks like SFDR and VBDO standards.

How you'll spend your time
Columbia Threadneedle has combined several of its key investment capabilities to create an integrated Multi-Asset Solutions (MAS) business with a focus on providing a range of investment strategies to institutional and wholesale investors.

This role sits within our MAS Fiduciary Management (FM) Team in Amsterdam and will support institutional clients. The team’s main focus is on Dutch institutional clients, but the FM team also operates as an integral part of the Global Investment Team (operating in countries such as the USA, UK and the Netherlands). 

Within the Fiduciary Team, the (Senior) RI Strategist is responsible for providing clients high quality strategic responsible investment advice and ensuring the integration of Responsible Investment processes in client mandates.

Our (Senior) RI Strategist will work collaboratively across the business, leveraging the expertise of others, especially of the Responsible Investment team, the global research team, the Multi-Manager Solutions team and the Multi-Asset Solutions team.

Our (Senior) RI Strategist takes shared responsibility for the full spectrum of ESG topics. This encompasses strategic initiatives—including policy development for climate action, impact investing, exclusion criteria, and biodiversity—as well as operational elements such as ESG reporting and compliance with regulatory frameworks like SFDR and VBDO standards.

To be successful in this role you will have
• You have a completed university education in an econometric or financial-economic field, preferably supplemented with CFA, Sustainable Investing Certificate or VBA certification;

• You have previous work experience as an investment professional and have knowledge of financial markets and investment processes;

• You possess excellent knowledge in the area of sustainable investing and are familiar with sustainability legislation. For example; UN PRI, SFDR, NZAM and GIIN;

• You have proven experience in relevant asset classes, with ESG integration;

• You are able to translate the strategic challenges of a pension fund into practical asset management;

• You possess excellent written skills, enabling you to report clearly to committees and the board;

• You  are passionate about Responsible Investments

• Competencies: collaboration, collegiality, hands-on, eager to learn/investigative, leadership and entrepreneurship.
It would be great if you also had

• You are up-to-date on current pension developments (such as Wtp) and their impact on investment policy;
