The Position
The Director, Rapid Analytics is responsible for advancing the quality and speed of data-derived insights for the enterprise. This role will bridge functional lines across the enterprise, including commercial, market access, CMR, pricing and other functions, and leverage a broad range of data and analytical techniques to deliver timely and integrated insights to answer complex business questions and inform decision-making.
The Director will play a central role in serving as an advisor to the enterprise on strategic, time-sensitive questions as well as on exploratory opportunities to inform key business decisions. As NNI expands the areas of data we strategically leverage and govern, this role will need to lead a team in applying highly analytical problem-solving skills, as well as display leadership to advise all stakeholders on leveraging data & analytics in decision-making. The Director will set the strategy for the design and implementation of the approach to rapid analytics for the enterprise and will need to have strong collaborative skills to assure that the vision for Rapid Analytics, both for reactive questions from the enterprise and proactive exploration of data, remains aligned to the ambition of uncovering richer insights and delivering integrated insights that inform key business decisions. The Director will need to operate in a changing and flexible environment while maintaining strong data and analytics practices.
Relationships
This role reports to the VP, Enterprise Data & Advanced Analytics. The role interacts on a regular basis across all levels of leadership within NNI and across all functions, including other Enterprise Insights Data & Analytics teams. Externally, this role interacts with and manages various vendors. The Director will also manage a team on internal employees and contingent resources.
Essential Functions

  • Analysis and interpretation:
    • Ensures alignment of initiatives to the company's overall business objectives and brands strategic imperatives
  • Collaboration & communication:
    • Develop and sustain close working relationships with key stakeholders across NNI, including Enterprise Insight Leads, as well as other departments within NNI and global as needed
    • Ensure clear and ongoing communication of research results, key conclusions and recommendations through formal and informal channels
  • Leadership and development:
    • Assess and develop new processes and techniques to advance market research and analytics capabilities across patient, physician and payor/provider and improve internal efficiencies
    • Champion the Triple Bottom Line in Market Research, analytics and internal strategy consulting
    • Develop innovative solutions to unstructured, complex problems; Make recommendations that have a significant impact on company (time, people, budget) resources and potentially affect the company's ability to achieve its goals
    • Ensure collaborative interactions across the other Business Unit Insights & Analytics teams to ensure best practices, consistency, synergies, etc.
    • Pro-actively seek out improvement and innovative opportunities by challenging the status quo, proposing solutions, and driving approved implementation plans
  • Leadership and strategic business partnership:
    • Ensure insight driven consultation to the marketing team through the development and execution of primary market research and secondary data analytics to drive evidence-based strategy and tactic development, as well as marketing and sales execution
  • Insights and Analytics:
    • Develop holistic and comprehensive market assessments and oversee other ad hoc analyses to proactively address issues in support of business objectives
    • Acts as primary focal point for the brand team's analysis/insight needs, inclusive of insights generation and integration
    • Directs the development of presentations with clear storylines and concise conclusions and recommendations aligned with the strategies and objectives of the organization
    • Drives holistic, insight- driven consultation to all levels of internal stakeholders via generating and integrating insights derived from market research and other data sources
    • Leads design of proactive scenario-based impact analysis on key market and customer trends
    • Leads the ongoing, proactive evaluation of market situation and changes to make relevant recommendations to marketing and other parts of the organization
    • Manages expectations, delivers recommendations and drives consensus for analysis and insights
    • Proactively identifies areas of opportunity to drive agility and competitive advantage
    • Plays a leadership role in supporting the planning process via direction of market-based situation analysis to identify issues/opportunities and identify strategies/actions to address
  • Internal Leadership:
    • Trains, educates, and creates awareness for members in respective functional areas
    • Lead contract negotiation process for new data & analytic deliverables, partnering with Procurement to negotiate pricing
    • Provide direction and coach team on investigating and resolving complex business questions
    • Provide strategic and tactical direction to direct reports
    • Actively participates as a member of the Enterprise Data & Advanced Analytics Leadership team in shaping strategy and culture, and driving the vision of the department
    • Directs and monitors team budget, both functional and business-specific, and ensures that resources are appropriately allocated, and quality of services are maintained while costs remain on track according to plan
    • Establishes the optimal structure allowing for individual growth and leadership opportunity within the function
    • Supports budget development and makes sound investment decisions/recommendations to optimize spend and ensure that resources are appropriately allocated. Tracks and reconciles expenses to ensure budget is on track
    • Analyzes market trends and opportunities to support annual and long-term innovation planning


Physical Requirements
Up to 10% overnight travel required.

Supervisory
Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process.
Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility.
Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.
Qualifications

  • A Bachelor 's degree with at least ten (10) years of relevant experience in, marketing, sales, business analytics, or pharmaceutical consulting required, or an MBA with at least eight (8) years of relevant experience required
  • Experience in market strategy development, brand development, insights, AI/GenAI and other advanced analytics techniques; proficiency in data query tools (e.g., SQL), Visualization Tools (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI), PowerPoint, Excel, and potentially Python
  • Minimum of three (3) years of management experience required
  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced, environment, with a quality control focus and a documentation orientation
  • Innate intellectual curiosity, demonstrated desire to take initiative, and ability to think creatively to solve complex problems
  • Ability to effectively integrate and communicate insights to Senior Management teams, synthesize complex information, making it relevant, understandable and actionable for internal stakeholders
  • Persuasive and credible communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrated capability to partner with cross functional colleagues
  • Ability to effectively plan, prioritize and follow through in a timely manner as well as anticipate potential roadblocks
  • Proven ability to effectively operate, collaborate and influence cross-functionally. Proven record of building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders. Ability to understand and anticipate stakeholder needs and expectations
  • Demonstrated ability to provide structure to ambiguous situations and to proactively identify and define the need for specific analyses and programs, as well as driving foresight
