Summary

The Director of Quality is responsible for leading the organization’s Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring full compliance with AS9100, NADCAP, customer requirements, and regulatory standards. This role oversees all quality departments, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and serves as the primary interface with aerospace customers and regulatory bodies. The Director of Quality ensures the company’s products and processes meet the highest levels of aerospace quality and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the Quality organization, including Quality Engineering, Inspection, NDT, Calibration, and Document Control teams.
  • Ensure the QMS is maintained, continually improved, and fully compliant with AS9100 and customer requirements.
  • Lead internal, external, regulatory, and customer audits; ensure timely resolution of all findings.
  • Direct the company’s root cause analysis and corrective action system, ensuring effective and sustainable solutions for all CARs and nonconformances.
  • Oversee calibration programs and verification processes for all inspection tools.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, reduce defects, and improve yield by applying Six Sigma methodologies (e.g., DMAIC, root cause analysis, statistical process control) and business transformation principles.
  • Lead cross functional teams to identify root causes, implement data driven solutions, and establish scalable processes that strengthen operational performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead annual Management Reviews, Quality strategic planning, and KPI development.
  • Serve as the senior point of contact for customers including Honeywell, Pratt & Whitney, GE, and Raytheon.
  • Ensure quality requirements are understood and implemented across Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain.
  • Develop staff through mentoring, training, and succession planning within a multi-team quality organization (larger scope than the manager role).
  • Support new program onboarding, customer qualification, and special process approvals (e.g., NADCAP Welding, NDT/FPI).
  • Manage departmental budgets, strategic initiatives, and technology upgrades (ERP, inspection equipment, digital QMS tools).

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum 12–15 years of aerospace manufacturing experience with at least 5 years in a senior quality leadership position.
  • Expert-level understanding of AS9100, NADCAP, GD&T, and aerospace customer specifications.
  • Experience working directly with major aerospace OEMs (Honeywell required; Pratt & Whitney, GE, and Raytheon preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related discipline required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated success managing multi-team quality organizations and building high-performance teams.
  • Strong leadership skills with exceptional communication abilities to interface effectively with customers, executives, and cross-functional teams.
  • Advanced capabilities in ERP systems, Microsoft Office, and digital quality tools.
  • Proven ability to interpret complex specifications, blueprints, and manufacturing plans; must be proficient with all major inspection tools.
  • Must be a US Person due to ITAR requirements (Citizen or Permanent Resident).

Physical Requirements

  • The physical demands of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Frequent activities include: sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing, writing, and typing.
  • Occasional lifting of materials or equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Occasional physical movements such as: reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, grasping, twisting, bending, and performing repetitive motions.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to: earplugs, safety glasses, safety shoes, and other safety gear as required.

Skills Required

  • 12–15 years of aerospace manufacturing experience
