Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Project Management Office to join our team. This role will report directly to the Vice President, Strategic Execution & Operational Excellence. The Director of the Project Management Office (PMO) is responsible for leading, and managing the PMO to ensure that projects are executed effectively, align with business objectives, and deliver maximum value. This role requires a strategic thinker and strong leader who can guide project managers, establish strong governance structures and framework, standardize processes, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. The Director will work closely with stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and executive leadership to drive efficiency, mitigate risks, and deliver high-quality results.

 

Specific Responsibilities

  • Develop and Implement PMO Strategy: Refine and oversee the execution of the PMO’s vision, strategy, and goals to support the company’s strategic initiatives.
  • Standardize Project Management Practices: Refine and enforce project management governance and frameworks, methodologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Portfolio Management: Oversee project selection, prioritization, and resource allocation to align with business priorities.
  • Leadership and Team Development: Lead and mentor a team of project managers, providing guidance, professional development, and performance management.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with senior leadership, department heads, and external partners to ensure projects align with company objectives and stakeholder expectations.
  • Build strong relationships with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Facilitate clear communication regarding project status, challenges, and outcomes.
  • Lead steering committees or governance boards to ensure alignment and decision-making.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Implement project tracking, status reporting, and performance metrics to monitor the progress of key initiatives.
  • Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of learning and improvement, driving innovations to enhance the PMO’s effectiveness.
  • Ensure effective communication and alignment among stakeholders at all levels.
  • Participate in long-term strategic planning to align project management practices with overall business growth.
  • Oversee change management processes to support project transitions and organizational adaptation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in project management, including 5+ years in a leadership role within a PMO.
  • PMP certification is required.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$115,100 - $191,900
