The Director, Product Management works closely with external customers, prospects, and partners to define and design new features and products from idea to release. A director-level role that works within our Product team, and regularly collaborates internally with our Sales, Services, and R&D teams. This includes the quantification of market needs from a demand, ROI, need, and product positioning perspective, exploring sources of passive data, as well as exploring user workflows to identify gaps, pain points, and where Litera exists within that lifecycle. 

 

Ideal candidates have a proven track record of delivering software end-to-end from discovery through delivery. Love to nurture more junior product managers. Experience in legal technology and practice experience a plus. 

 

A Day in the Life 

  • Engage and meet with customers to learn about their needs and concerns 

  • Review market data from surveys, interviews, and win-loss analysis 

  • Evaluate industry news and competitor announcements 

  • Create and own financial analysis 

  • Prioritize and build initiatives and epics that satisfy customer needs 

  • Analyze how proposed changes impact other areas of the business 

  • Work with design to mockup solutions and iterate to build the best user experiences 

  • Work with marketing and sales teams to plan successful product launches 

Role Progression 

Within 1 month, you will: 

  • Complete New Hire Onboarding 

  • Learn best practices, processes, and business tools 

  • Review and understand core market problems, value propositions, and features of the product 

Within 3 months, you will

  • Be a key contributor to the product roadmap creation, development, and release processes 

  • Lead customer advisory board(s) 

  • Drive conversations about where product lines should be going, encouraging debate and critique 

Within 6 months, you will: 

  • Drive prioritization and direction of the product 

  • Own all product initiatives and deadlines 

  • Build relationships with key customers and use insights to drive roadmap 

About You

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Law, Computer Science, or a related field; a master's degree or MBA is preferred. 

  • Minimum of 10 years of product management experience, preferably within the legal technology industry. 

  • Experience in managing the product lifecycle and roadmap. 

  • Collaborative and innovative, especially with internal and external stakeholders 

  • Experience in creating and owning financial analysis, product pricing, and ROI calculations. 

  • Deep understanding of the legal industry, knowledge management, and lawyer productivity workflows, with the ability to identify market trends and incorporate customer insights into product strategy. 

  • Ability to conduct market research, including customer meetings, surveys, win-loss analysis, and competitor benchmarking, to inform product decisions. 

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to make tough decisions, prioritizing initiatives that align with strategic goals while balancing short-term and long-term objectives. 

  • Familiarity with modern product development practices and agile methodologies.

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, or Washington residents is $150,000 to $185,400. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, Litera offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
