Reporting to the Sr. Director, Product Transformation and Operations, the Director of Product Management, Data Products is responsible for building and leading a team of data domain experts and will lead development and maintenance of Availity’s data domains roadmap. This individual will be responsible for working across product teams to identify data needs and then collaborating closely with the data platform team to prioritize and advance our data capabilities.

The Director of Product Management, Data Products will play a crucial role in shaping the future of Availity’s data roadmap across all the data domains and that our data roadmap aligns with business objectives. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in data management, a deep understanding of data mesh concepts and a proven track record of leading a team of data product managers.

To be qualified for this position you:

• 7-10+ years of experience in product management, with a focus on data products and services.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Business, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in data management or product management can be advantageous.
• Proven track record of leading teams in a data-driven environment, preferably within a data mesh or federated data governance model.
• Strong understanding of data governance, data mesh principles and federated data management practices.
• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities with experience in crafting and executing product strategies.
• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and experience working across multiple levels (including executive level), functions and regions.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Experience in synthesizing complex business problems, ideating solutions, strategies and roadmap and delivering results.
• Knowledge of modern technology architectures, database technology and impact of government initiatives and HIPAA privacy and security regulation on system design

You will be:

• Leadership & Strategy
  • Building and leading a team of data domain experts across Availity’s data platform and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • As lead of the data domain expert team, developing and maintaining a holistic data domain strategy roadmap that details the evolution of the data platform.
  • Defining and communicating the vision for the data platform to stakeholders across the company.
• Product Development & Management
  • Leading a team of data domain experts to collaborate with product and technology leaders to identify data needs across Availity’s portfolio and fold in requirements into the data platform strategy and roadmap.
  • Partnering with other product leaders and play a role in ideating how current and near-term data platform capabilities can deliver value for intended use cases.
  • Collaborating with data engineering teams to prioritize projects and advance the data platform in conjunction with highest needs from Availity’s portfolio.
  • Conducting market research and competitive analyses to identify trends, opportunities and gaps in the current data offerings
• Data Governance & Compliance:
  • Collaborating to drive data governance practices across the data domains in line with a federated model to ensure data quality and compliance remains at its highest standard across all data domains.
  • Collaborating with legal and security teams to ensure that data domains adhere to regulatory requirements and organizational standards.
• Stakeholder Management
  • Engaging with key stakeholders from across product and technology to understand product requirements and data needs.
  • Being able to translate a unified data strategy across different parts of Availity’s organization and receive buy-in from.
  • Acting as the main point of contact for data product-related questions across all data domains, ensuring transparent and effective communications with all stakeholders.
  • Driving deep collaboration with legal, compliance and security teams to ensure the data platform is maintained to the highest compliance standards.
• Innovation
  • Becoming a subject-matter expert on Availity’s data and data platform in order to drive innovation.
  • Staying informed of industry trends, emerging technologies and best practices related to data governance models and data management.
