As the custodian of the product lifecycle, the Director is tasked with the establishment and enforcement of rigorous performance metrics that span the entire spectrum of a product's journey. These metrics are designed to provide clear, quantitative measures of success at every stage, from the product's introduction to the market, through its growth and maturity phases, and finally to its exit. The goal is to ensure that every product not only meets but exceeds its potential, contributing positively to the bottom line and market reputation.

Collaboration is at the heart of the Director's responsibilities, working cross-functionally with a diverse range of key stakeholders, including marketing, sales, sourcing, supply chain, and finance. The Director will play a crucial role in driving change management initiatives, acting as a catalyst for transformation that aligns with the strategic objectives. This involves fostering a culture of buy-in and engagement across all levels of the organization, ensuring that process integration is not only seamless but also embraced by everyone involved.

In essence, the Director of PLM is the linchpin that holds the various elements of product lifecycle management together, ensuring that each product's journey is as smooth and successful as possible. By leveraging their expertise and leadership skills, the Director will significantly contribute to the organization's ability to innovate, adapt, and thrive in a competitive market landscape while being stewards of operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic PLM Leadership:  The role involves developing and maintaining effective PLM policies and best practices that support operations, while diligently staying informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive dynamics to ensure PLM strategies remain innovative and competitive. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to ensure that each phase of the product lifecycle aligns with and contributes to overarching business objectives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: The position involves leading change management initiatives related to PLM processes to ensure smooth transitions and minimize disruption. It requires securing buy-in from stakeholders across departments by clearly communicating the benefits of PLM initiatives and addressing any concerns. The role guides cross-functional teams in developing and executing PLM strategies while serving as a liaison among departments to ensure coordinated and collaborative product-related activities. Additionally, responsibilities include creating training and communication materials to educate stakeholders on PLM processes and best practices, resolving conflicts, and overcoming roadblocks during cross-functional projects. Effective communication with stakeholders at all organizational levels is essential.
  • Strategic Playbook & KPI Threshold Development: The role involves formulating and implementing a comprehensive strategic playbook for product lifecycle management, which details key processes, decision points, and contingency plans. It requires defining and setting clear KPI thresholds to track product performance and identify areas for enhancement. The strategist will analyze KPI data to discern trends, potential risks, and opportunities for optimization, and initiate proactive interventions based on KPI performance to ensure optimal product lifecycle outcomes.
  • Leveraging Technology: Demonstrates a strong proficiency in leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance operational efficiency, coupled with a proactive willingness to continually explore and implement AI-driven solutions that streamline processes and drive innovation within the organization.

Minimum Requirement

Degree or equivalent experience. Typically requires 12+ years of professional experience and 4+ years of management experience.

Education

4-year degree in Business or related field or equivalent experience

Critical Skills

  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to analyze large data sets, identify trends, quickly identify discrepancies between data sets and identify underlying drivers. Report findings while proposing solutions to drive greater accuracy.
  • Scenario Planning: Ability to model different “what-if” scenarios to understand potential outcomes and risks.
  • Collaboration: Excellent ability to work effectively across varying teams while facilitating discussions, leading debates, and garnering buy-in to align to a single demand plan.
  • Supply Chain Fundamentals: Knowledge of supply chain concepts, inventory management principals, operational impacts and the interconnectivity throughout the entire product life cycle
  • Technical Skills: Power BI and Microsoft Office

Salary: 134,700.00 - 179,600.00 - 224,500.00 USD Annual (20% MIP) Starting Pay is between $140K to $172K based on skills and qualifications for this role in the Dallas, Texas area

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. $134,700 - $224,500
