Job DescriptionLead the strategic and operational procurement function for the company’s international project business. Develop and execute procurement and category strategies that secure competitive cost, quality, delivery and supply-chain reliability across the project pipeline, applying state-of-the-art procurement methods and digital tools. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on involvement in critical tenders, negotiations and supplier decisions.
- Develop, implement and continuously improve procurement and category strategies aligned with the project pipeline and business objectives
- Translate the project pipeline into procurement plans, sourcing priorities, market approaches and resource requirements
- Lead major tenders, commercial evaluations, negotiations and contract awards for key equipment, materials, subcontracted works and services
- Ensure procurement support across the project lifecycle, with clear interfaces to Engineering, Project Delivery, Construction, Finance, Legal and O&M
- Develop and maintain a competitive supplier and subcontractor network (qualification, selection, performance management, development) and build strategic supplier relationships while maintaining competition and alternatives
- Monitor supply markets, pricing trends, supplier capacities and risks and turn market intelligence into sourcing and mitigation decisions
- Monitor procurement performance, including cost, savings, delivery reliability, supplier performance, timelines and contractual commitments
- Modernize procurement processes, standards, systems, data quality and reporting using state-of-the-art methods and digital tools (e-sourcing/e-tendering, digital contract management, spend analytics, ERP workflows)
- Lead, coach and develop the procurement team, set clear priorities and foster a culture of ownership, collaboration and high performance
- Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or a comparable discipline. An equivalent commercial or technical qualification combined with substantial and relevant procurement experience may also be accepted
- Minimum 10 years in procurement/supply chain, several years in senior leadership, with proven expertise in modern strategic procurement (category management, strategic sourcing, digitalisation)
- International project or EPC experience required; sector may be renewables, infrastructure, energy or industrial. Solar PV is an advantage, not a precondition.
- Well-versed in modern, state-of-the-art procurement tools and methods, including e-tendering and e-sourcing platforms, digital contract management, ERP purchasing and invoice workflows, spend analytics, should-cost and TCO modelling, supplier scorecards and AI-supported tools
- Strong knowledge of strategic sourcing, category management and operational procurement, including tendering, bid evaluation and cost analysis
- Proven ability to convert the project pipeline into practical procurement strategies and sourcing plans
- Extensive experience managing multi-country procurement, suppliers and supply chains across different legal frameworks and cultures
- Experience in supplier qualification, performance management, supplier development, market intelligence and delivery-risk assessment
- Strong commercial and contractual understanding, including warranties, securities, liabilities, liquidated damages, Incoterms and logistics
- Good knowledge of budgets, savings and KPIs
- Hands-on and solution-oriented mentality, with strong negotiation, stakeholder-management and intercultural communication skills
- Additional professional procurement qualification or training, such as CIPS, is advantageous
- Fluency in English, written and spoken is a must, while German is strongly preferred; Spanish and/or Chinese and other languages relevant to key markets and suppliers are advantageous
