Location: Urbana, Iowa

The Director of Operations is responsible for leading all aspects of our warehouse, fulfillment and safety operations across multiple locations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in warehouse management, exceptional leadership skills, and a deep understanding of logistics and inventory management. As the Director of Operations, you will be responsible for executing our Brand Promise, optimizing processes, managing staff, ensuring inventory accuracy, and maintaining a safe and efficient warehouse environment. What Your Key Areas of Responsibility Will Be:

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise, mentor, and lead local and remote teams of warehouse staff, including team leads, pickers, packers, inventory specialists and receiving clerks.
  • Foster a positive team culture where engagement, safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement are expected. 
  • Set clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback and accountability, and conduct performance evaluations.  

Fulfilment Management

  • Oversee our fulfillment processes, ensuring accurate picking, packing, and shipping of customer orders. 
  • Utilize technology and metrics to develop and continuously improve the strategies in place to meet expected ship dates and ensure timely delivery to our customers and multi-channel fulfillment partners.  
  • Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to prioritize orders and meet customer demands effectively.

Inventory Management:

  • Ensure regular cycle counts, audits, and reconciliation processes are performed to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Collaborate with purchasing and sales teams to optimize stock levels based on demand forecasts and sales trends to ensure that we have the right products in our warehouse when our customers need them.
  • Collaborate with BUF’s to proactively plan and execute new category additions by optimizing bin locations and warehouse capacity.

Warehouse Operations:

  • Oversee our receiving processes, ensuring accurate and timely check-in, receiving, and put away of inventory. 
  • Optimize warehouse space utilization and inventory locations/slotting through strategic layout enhancements and efficient deployment of advanced material handling equipment with the goal of improving productivity, efficiency, safety and ergonomics. 
  • Maintain warehouse equipment and closely monitor and manage warehouse capacity and utilize partnerships with 3PL’s as needed.

Process Optimization:

  • Utilize data analysis and reporting tools to identify trends, track KPIs, and inefficiencies in warehouse processes and develop and implement solutions by making data-driven decisions to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and productivity. 
  • Build a culture of continuous improvement with methodologies like Lean, 5S and Visual Management with contributions from all warehouse team members.

Quality Control:

  • Implement quality control measures to inspect incoming and outgoing goods for damages, defects, or discrepancies. 
  • Work closely with purchasing and quality teams to address item and vendor quality issues and ensure compliance with product specifications.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure that all employees are well-versed in safety regulations, company policies, and industry compliance standards. 
  • Conduct regular safety training sessions and monthly inspections and ensure compliance. 
  • Cultivate a culture of safety that is embedded in onboarding, training, and daily interactions with all team members. 

  

Your Experience and Qualifications: 

  • Warehouse and leadership experience preferred 
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Word   
  • Experience operating within a WMS 
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30  
  • Lean 5S
