As the Director of Operations, you will be responsible for driving strategic initiatives and overseeing various operational functions, including planning, production, customer service, logistics, and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS). This leadership role involves developing and implementing continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and customer satisfaction. You will lead teams to ensure consistent and scalable operations processes, procedures, and standards in compliance with internal policies and external regulations.

The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems. Its end-to-end Command, Control, Computers, Communications and Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities encompass design, integration, test, certification, ground/flight training and complete logistics support. Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans approved by executive management.
  • Oversee and drive initiatives for improving areas of operations such as planning, production, customer service, and logistics.
  • Manage and ensure compliance with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) regulations.
  • Lead continuous process improvement initiatives to drive operational excellence.
  • Develop and maintain consistent and scalable operations processes, procedures, and standards.
  • Mentor and develop talent within the operations team.
  • Conduct monthly operations reviews to assess program and production performance against objectives.
  • Support business development initiatives and assist in managing operational budgets.
  • Provide guidance and direction to the Program Management Office on production operations-related issues.
  • Align operations initiatives with the company’s mission, vision, and growth objectives.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Supply Chain, or a related field of study.
  • 13+ years of relevant experience, with at least 6+ years in a leadership role.
  • Relevant experience can be considered as a substitute for the required educational qualifications. In the absence of a degree, a minimum of 17 years of related experience is required.
  • Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing, production, and logistics processes.
  • Experience in continuous process improvement and EHS compliance.
  • Experience leading and coordinating large, multi-location operations.
  • Knowledge of production/manufacturing principles, techniques, and warehousing best practices.
  • Experience with materials management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret complex technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals and/or publications.
  • Excellent customer-facing experience.
  • Proven leadership abilities inclusive of successful change management, mentoring, career development, training, succession planning, holding people accountable, and conducting yearly reviews.
  • Proven experience and skills in team building, time management, conflict resolution, communication, briefing, presentation, and strategic thinking.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly express concepts in verbal and written forms.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Professional certification such as Certified Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
  • Proficiency in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and data analysis tools.
  • Ability to navigate change and uncertainty, make defensible decisions in ambiguity and own those decisions.
  • Mastery to drive innovative thinking, lead and inspire teams, instill collaboration, challenge status quo, manage complex situations, delegate authority, and demonstrate ability to adapt to dynamic situations.
  • Skills in assessing external competition by gathering data from multiple, often disparate, qualitative and quantitative sources and synthesizing it into meaningful reports and presentations.
  • Possess leadership acumen to perform as a true strategic partner to top company executives; ability to establish presence and demeanor to interface and work collaboratively with leaders and skill to make significant contributions on key leadership committees.

  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense (Civilian), NASA/Civil or commercial space and/or US Military, with an understanding of defense, aerospace, intelligence, and adjacent markets.

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to work on a computer for the majority of the work shift.
  • Hand/finger dexterity for data entry and document handling.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel occasionally as required.
  • Ability to work in an office or hybrid environment.
  • Ability to read detailed technical documents and computer screens.
  • Ability to inspect equipment and facilities, potentially in different lighting conditions.
  • Ability to maintain composure and effectiveness in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $167,490.31 - $230,299.19. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, such as candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.

SNC offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non-U.S. Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudications Facility (DoD CAF), a federal government agency, handles the adjudicative aspects of the security clearance eligibility process for industry applicants.
