Work Environment 

This position operates within a luxury hotel or resort environment where Five-Star AudioVisual serves as the exclusive audiovisual partner. 

The Director, Operations is the senior operational leader responsible for the overall performance of the audiovisual operation within an assigned venue or portfolio of venues. This role provides strategic direction, operational oversight, financial leadership, and team development while maintaining the highest standards of customer service, hospitality, and event execution. 

The Director, Operations works closely with hotel executive leadership, clients, sales teams, production teams, and corporate leadership to ensure operational excellence, client satisfaction, profitability, employee engagement, and long-term partnership success. 

This position requires advanced leadership capabilities, strong financial acumen, operational expertise, technical knowledge, strategic thinking, and a commitment to hospitality-driven service. 

What You Will Be Doing 

As a Director, Operations, you will be responsible for the overall management and performance of the audiovisual operation while ensuring alignment with company objectives, hotel partner expectations, and client needs. 

The Director, Operations oversees operational performance, financial results, inventory management, staffing strategies, team development, client relationships, equipment utilization, service delivery, and continuous process improvement. This role establishes operational standards, develops future leaders, drives profitability, and ensures Five-Star AudioVisual consistently delivers exceptional event experiences. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

Operational Leadership 

  • Provide overall leadership and direction for daily audiovisual operations. 

  • Ensure the operation maintains the highest possible level of service excellence, efficiency, and professionalism. 

  • Oversee workflow management, event execution standards, inventory control, equipment utilization, and operational processes. 

  • Implement and support company operating policies, procedures, and best practices. 

  • Monitor operational performance and develop action plans to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency. 

  • Attend and participate in hotel leadership meetings, BEO meetings, operational reviews, and strategic planning sessions. 

  • Maintain a current, secure, and accurate inventory while ensuring equipment readiness and quality standards. 

  • Develop and implement operational strategies that support company growth and venue performance goals. 

  • Maintain knowledge of local competition, industry trends, emerging technologies, and hospitality best practices. 

Financial Leadership 

  • Achieve budgeted revenue, profitability, utilization, and operational performance objectives. 

  • Manage expenses and identify opportunities to improve financial performance and operational efficiencies. 

  • Oversee labor planning, staffing utilization, inventory investments, and equipment deployment strategies. 

  • Review event opportunities and operational plans to maximize profitability while ensuring exceptional client experiences. 

  • Support forecasting efforts related to labor, equipment, revenue, and operating expenses. 

  • Ensure accurate billing, invoicing, and operational reporting processes. 

  • Analyze operational and financial metrics to support informed business decisions. 

  • Drive accountability for achieving revenue growth and profitability goals. 

Client & Hotel Partnership Management 

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with hotel ownership, executive leadership, convention services, catering teams, and other key stakeholders. 

  • Serve as the primary operational liaison between Five-Star AudioVisual and hotel leadership. 

  • Maintain an appropriate level of public relations with employees, clientele, hotel staff, vendors, and industry partners. 

  • Ensure clients receive outstanding hospitality-driven service and technical support. 

  • Meet with clients and event stakeholders to ensure expectations are met and event objectives are achieved. 

  • Address client concerns and operational challenges promptly and professionally. 

  • Foster long-term client and hotel partner relationships that contribute to mutual growth and success. 

  • Represent Five-Star AudioVisual as a trusted strategic partner and industry leader. 

Leadership & Team Development 

  • Lead, mentor, and develop Managers, Production Operations, Event Managers, Technicians, and operational team members. 

  • Build a culture focused on accountability, teamwork, hospitality, innovation, and service excellence. 

  • Coordinate training and professional development programs that foster growth and promotion from within the organization. 

  • Ensure team members maintain technical proficiency and operational excellence. 

  • Conduct performance discussions, coaching sessions, and talent development planning. 

  • Support recruiting, onboarding, succession planning, and workforce development initiatives. 

  • Maintain positive employee relations and a highly engaged team environment. 

  • Lead by example through professionalism, integrity, accountability, and strong leadership. 

Event Operations & Service Excellence 

  • Ensure events are delivered according to Five-Star standards and client expectations. 

  • Oversee event planning, logistics, technical execution, and operational support activities. 

  • Support complex productions, VIP programs, and high-profile events as necessary. 

  • Ensure successful room turns, event transitions, scheduling coordination, and resource allocation. 

  • Maintain operational readiness and equipment quality standards. 

  • Ensure appropriate sub-rental utilization while maximizing profitability and service levels. 

  • Promote continuous improvement in operational processes and service delivery. 

Strategic Planning & Business Development Support 

  • Partner with sales and production leadership to support revenue growth initiatives. 

  • Evaluate new business opportunities, operational requirements, and venue growth potential. 

  • Assist in developing operational strategies that support company objectives and long-term growth. 

  • Recommend new concepts, technologies, and service offerings that improve operational performance and client experience. 

  • Support corporate initiatives, operational projects, and organizational improvements. 


Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of audiovisual, hospitality, event technology, production operations, or related leadership experience required. 

  • Minimum 3 years of management experience leading operational teams. 

  • Demonstrated success managing large-scale event operations and service delivery programs. 

  • Strong financial management and business planning experience. 

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Strong organizational, leadership, and decision-making skills. 

  • Exceptional client service and hospitality experience. 

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
