Responsible for development of and direction of patient care services for the market’s cardiovascular service line.  Directs activities of Patient Care Navigators and Chest Pain Coordinator. Department administrator. Establishes and enforces policies, procedures, standards and objectives.  Directs and supervises staff as well as workflow. Position has budgetary or fiscal accountability. Responsible 24 hours a day for the ongoing effective operation of the Department exerting a leadership role which supports the hospital’s mission, vision, goals and objectives, while focusing on the patients, physicians, employees, volunteers and the community as customers. Ongoing accountability for the continuous assessment, improvement, coordination and integration of the department services and standards of care into the hospital’s primary function. Position is responsible for approving timekeeping, employee evaluation, meeting applicable regulatory standards, approving supply orders and department strategic planning.   

Responsibilities
  • FINANCE: 
    • Responsible for Budget preparation and adherence based on volume 
    • Responsible for Supply Chain Management for Department needs  
    • Monitor productivity/cost per unit service on a regular basis meet established budgetary guidelines; as necessary, establish ad implement action plans when variances occur 
    • Plans work assignments and resource allocation with full consideration of timeliness and financial impact 
  • GROWTH

    • Support organization strategies to increase volumes
    • Mentors and develops staff

      PEOPLE

    • Conduct new employee onboarding in accordance with the onboarding system
    • Hires, terminates, trains, evaluates performance and supervises staff to provide professional, courteous and timely services
    • Review turnover trends and develop action plans to address unanticipated variances
    • Promotes employee engagement thru staff participation in department operations and activities as measured thru employee engagement tools
    • Appropriately manages staff to ensure compliance with applicable standards, adheres to organization’s policies and procedures, including standards of behavior and safety guidelines 
    • Enhances communication between various levels of staff, departments and customers to promote a caring and respectful work environment

    • Provides direction and delegation in a positive, professional manner and ensures follow-through

    • Cultivates and promotes staff expertise and knowledge relevant to the needs of the specific environment

    • Assists with the formation, implementation, and maintenance of policies and procedures, job descriptions, and competencies

    • Performs the necessary edits for Kronos time management system and payroll


      QUALITY

      • Gathers and reports quality indicators generated by department activity
      • Support organization strategies to meet core measure goals
      • Develops and implements action plans to improve patient experience

        COMMUNITY:

      • Participates in organization sponsored events


Qualifications
  • Minimum Requirements 
    • Experience:  5-7 years of Acute Care Hospital experience specialzing in cardiovascular sevices.
    • Education:  Master's Degree in Nursing/or related field
    • Certifications: RN License in the state of Arizona; BLS/ACLS
  • Preferred Requirements 
    • Experience:  Minimum Experience10 years of Acute Care/ Cardiovascular Hospital experience.

Established in 1961, St. Josephs Hospital in Tucson is home to the Carondelet Neurological Institute and the Carondelet Joint Replacement Center. The hospital offers advanced care that includes a Level I Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center and spacious and comfortable labor and delivery units. Skills Required

  • 5-7 years Acute Care Hospital experience specializing in cardiovascular services
  • Master's Degree in Nursing or related field
  • RN License in the state of Arizona
  • BLS/ACLS certifications
  • Minimum 10 years Acute Care/Cardiovascular Hospital experience
