Position Overview:The Director of Mortgage Product Strategy is a senior mortgage-finance leader responsible for setting strategy and driving business performance for a portfolio of Freddie Mac Single-Family mortgage products. The portfolio may include conventional purchase and refinance mortgages, affordable lending solutions, first-time homebuyer offerings, home equity/second liens, construction-to-permanent and renovation lending, manufactured housing and emerging mortgage products.
The successful candidate will bring deep residential mortgage expertise and experience developing, managing, underwriting, evaluating pricing, assessing or executing mortgage loan products. The Director will identify unmet borrower and lender needs, assess market opportunities, develop new offerings, optimize existing products, build investment cases, and lead complex initiatives from strategy through market launch. The role requires evaluating opportunities across credit, underwriting, pricing and economics, secondary-market and capital-markets execution, Seller operations, competitive dynamics, and housing finance policy—and translating those insights into mortgage product strategies and recommendations for Freddie Mac senior leadership.

As a mortgage product strategy director, you will identify market opportunities, shape and execute mortgage loan product strategies, and ensure Freddie Mac’s loan product offerings remain competitive, mission-focused, and aligned with business objectives. Mortgage Product Strategy
- Propose product strategies that advance Freddie Mac’s mission and strengthen market competitiveness.

Executive Leadership

Industry Leadership

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Master’s degree, preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex mortgage-product initiatives from market opportunity and business case through product approval, implementation, launch and performance assessment.
- 12+ years of relevant experience in Single-Family mortgage finance. Relevant backgrounds include mortgage product strategy or management; mortgage credit or underwriting strategy; secondary marketing or capital markets; affordable lending; home equity; mortgage pricing; or leadership of residential mortgage offerings at a lender, GSE, mortgage insurer, investor, or other housing finance institution.
- Demonstrated ability to assess mortgage product opportunities based on borrower and customer needs, market size, competitive position, credit risk, pricing, capital, economics, operational feasibility, and mission impact—and translate the analysis into an executive recommendation.
- Proven ability to influence executives and lead large cross-functional initiatives.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with demonstrated ability to engage diverse partners effectively.
- Strategic mindset with a track record of driving change and innovation in mortgage product practices.

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $187,000 - $281,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.Skills Required
