As Director, Market Analysis, you will be responsible for market analysis efforts to support strategic decision-making and optimize business performance in the power markets that NPI operates. With a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, you will support the business on a global level by working closely with colleagues in the Development, Origination and Operations teams.
This role will be based in Toronto.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a strategy for the market analysis team to cover all NPI’s core and target markets.
  • Conduct data driven analysis to develop NPI’s in-house view on all commodity and power prices that underpin project business cases for development and operational projects.  Work with Risk Management to identify and quantify risks.
  • Consider external vendor’s views to supplement in-house analysis or to bridge any gaps, where appropriate.
  • Manage external vendor relationships.
  • Stay up to date with market developments and identify market opportunities and risks through insights, research, and analysis.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, and other internal stakeholders to provide actionable insights that inform strategy and operational decisions.
  • Assist with the preparation and presentation of materials to support business decisions at all levels.
  • Lead the Market analysis team; grow as needed to support NPI’s business objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Completed Undergraduate Degree in business, economics, finance, or engineering.
  • Professional Designation such as CPA, CFA, ERP, P. Eng., etc.; A related graduate degree is also desirable.
  • 10-15 years of experience assessing, modelling and reporting on energy markets including North American and European markets covering both power and gas.
  • Significant experience monitoring market regulatory bodies and assessing impacts of regulatory changes to business models and energy markets.
