Job Description
 

The Director, Market Access Strategy Cross-Portfolio will sit in Foster City, CA.

Responsibilities:

Portfolio Payer Strategy & Marketing

  • Monitor industry, policy, and payer landscape trends and translate them into tangible portfolio implications and strategic recommendations, working in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders including Legal, Government Affairs, Public Affairs, and Brand teams.

  • Provide early market access strategy input for pipeline and business development assets, including payer insight generation, access assumptions, launch archetype considerations, and implications for pricing, contracting, distribution, and customer engagement.

  • Support launch excellence by establishing repeatable market access launch readiness processes, milestones, governance touchpoints, and decision frameworks to enable coordinated cross-functional execution from early planning through post-launch optimization.

  • Develop and maintain a strategic framework for long-term national account planning, translating portfolio goals, customer priorities, payer landscape dynamics, and emerging risks and opportunities into actionable account strategies that inform annual planning, executive engagement, and cross-portfolio decision-making.

Customer Engagement

  • Lead preparation for executive exchanges with national accounts by driving internal alignment on portfolio priorities, objectives, and key messages in partnership with account teams, the VP Chief of Staff, Legal, and other relevant cross-functional partners.

  • Lead the national conference planning process, including identifying which conferences Gilead should sponsor based on portfolio priorities, managing end-to-end planning and execution, and overseeing PRC approval of conference booth materials and related customer engagement assets.

  • Manage and enhance capabilities to monitor market access trends, including maintaining market research, surveys, and other relevant insights resources; leverage AI-enabled tools to synthesize findings into clear, actionable insights for account teams, Market Access colleagues, and Market Access leadership.

Operational Efficiency and Effectiveness:

  • Maintain existing technologies and business processes, such as governance, tools,

  • Establish methods to drive operational consistency and process improvement across the

  • Market Access team.

Other:

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and regulatory guidelines

  • governing commercial and scientific interactions with healthcare professionals, payers,

  • advocacy, and other business partners.

  • Manage and maintain budget and accruals process.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and Twelve Years’ Experience

OR

Masters' Degree and Ten Years’ Experience

OR

PhD and Eight Years’ Experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge and experience across market access, payer strategy, pricing and contracting in the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Solid track record of leading without authority and influencing decision-making to gain

  • Proven ability to drive robust market access recommendations through strong analysis, storytelling, and executive presentation skills.

  • Experience working with PRC (promotional review committee) and an understanding of basic marketing principles/processes.

  • Understanding of the regulatory environment, including programs designed to educate patients and prescribers on drug safety and appropriate use.

The salary range for this position is: $226,185.00 - $292,710.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
