The Director of Internships and Training oversees our statewide internship program spanning the array of programs at Italian Home for Children, as well as expanding upon our internal training programs, while finding new opportunities for growth. In addition to building and leading these programs, the Director will play a leading role in advancing the IHC philosophy across all programs. The Director will have both administrative and direct supervision roles, providing interns and emerging leaders with support, assessment, and interventions to address staff’s education and training needs. The Director must hold an LICSW with a minimum of three years post license experience.

This is a hybrid role, requiring at least three days per week on-site at our Jamaica Plain campus.

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the duties and responsibilities that will be required of the position. Employees are expected to perform job related tasks other than those specifically noted in this description.

Essential Functions & Qualifications

Administration and Management

  • Develop and implement annual goals and objectives for all IHC internship and training programs, as well as drive the expansion and growth of services through existing and future partnerships with colleges and universities in the Commonwealth
  • Advance and implement agency IHC philosophy consistent with advanced internship opportunities and current evidenced based practices
  • Remain current with knowledge of best practices, relevant research, policies, and regulations
  • Ensure maintenance of timely, organized, and accurate clinical documentation in Electronic Health Records (EHR), supervise client cases
  • Develop marketing materials and outreach plan for internship programs in all departments, in collaboration with the Intake and Marketing & Development Teams
  • Network and grow internship relationships with schools and other stakeholders
  • Attend conferences and trainings to remain relevant with implementing best practices and with the intention of bringing this new knowledge back to IHC
  • Development and dissemination of internal and external trainings, as well as professional conferences
  • Ensure training programs remain in compliance with regulatory authorities
  • Assist Development Team in their efforts to acquire grants and/or donations geared toward internship and training programs
  • Coordinate on-site or virtual training opportunities for IHC staff members that offer continuing education units for a variety of clinical licenses
  • Complete applications for CEUs with licensing boards
  • Collaborate with program leaders to develop and implement professional development opportunities for their teams
  • Oversight of IHCs Safety Care training process. This includes new hire orientation, annual refreshers, train the trainer opportunities, and all paperwork and documentation that is required to ensure fidelity to the model
  • Play an active role in agency orientation for new hires

Leadership

  • Coordinate full-cycle recruitment and onboarding of interns, including: orientation, supervision assignments, and facilitating ongoing communication between IHC and college or university supervisors
  • Conduct training and workshops for interns and staff, as applicable
  • Remain available and open to staff feedback, questions, and concerns
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between staff and/or interns and other departments
  • Provide weekly and/or group supervision and support to interns and other staff as assigned
  • Conduct observations, in-person, or telehealth, of staff with clients and/or families for supervisees
  • Orchestrate, conduct, and review evaluations for direct supervisees
  • Provide guidance and oversight of behavior analytic research dissemination (poster presentations, lectures, panels, etc.)
  • Encourage and support all license eligible clinical staff to complete requirements to apply for appropriate licensure

Qualifications

 

  • LICSW with three years post-Masters experience required
  • Experience creating and delivering trainings on a variety of topics
  • Knowledge of the current college and university programs relevant to positions available at IHC
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to work in a matrixed organization with multiple partners and shift priorities as required
  • Integrity in the handling of sensitive and confidential information related to clients, interns, and employees; adhere to all HIPPA guidelines and regulations
  • Ability to bend, reach, move and lift 75 lbs.
  • Strength in working collaboratively
  • Demonstration of support and belief in IHC's mission and values

The annual salary range for this role is $85,000-$95,00 USD, dependent on experience. This number does not reflect additional compensation-related benefits such as PTO, medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, EAP, and the Italian Home for Children 403(b) retirement plan.
