Vertafore is searching for a Director, Internal Communications to lead strategic internal employee communications and executive communications. The right candidate serves as a key employee advocate and counsel to senior leadership, including the CEO. They are responsible for all internal messaging, setting strategic direction, and execution of the strategy through their small team. The Director is charged with creating and utilizing available channels, including executive messaging, video, All-Hands Broadcasts and company intranet to inform 2400 employees across the U.S., India, and Canada. This person will report directly to the Chief People Officer and be a member of the HR Leadership Team. 

 

Core Requirements and Responsibilities:

Essential job functions included but are not limited to the following: 

  • Create, direct, and execute on the company's internal communications strategy in order to inspire employees and enrich the overall culture, vision and values, be tied to the company's operating priorities and business initiatives, and inform and connect employee to our customers and solutions. 

  • Utilize excellent communication skills to hone messaging that will have a broad, memorable impact to our global footprint of employees. 

  • Partner closely with the executive team on all communication content, including but not limited to PowerPoint decks, speeches, website bios, organizational messages, All-Hands broadcasts, employee engagement events, etc. 

  • Provide communication in a variety of voices and styles, ensuring a "corporate voice" permeates in messaging to employees and stakeholders. 

  • Oversee the Internal Communications Team, ensuring their success and professional growth 

  • Set overall tone and forward-facing initiatives for all available channels of communication, including company intranet, SharePoint, Teams channels, etc.

  • Assist with confidential HR initiatives, including acquisitions, leadership appointments and employee relations. 

  • Partner with External Communications Team and Talent Acquisition Team on joint initiatives. 

  • Manage Vertafore's external job aggregator page(s) (e.g. Glassdoor, Comparably) for tone, content and culture.

  • Travel as required to support communications initiatives and strategies. 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with writing experience for internal messages, websites, and other modes of communication. 

  • Creative mindset, able to strategically connect direction and tone with modes of communication and message. 

  • Passionate about testing new ideas and playing an active role in executing against them. 

  • Strong command of technical publishing tools (SharePoint, Marketo, Microsoft Office). 

  • Comfortable both coaching senior leaders and serving as an embedded presence within the company culture. 

  • Proven initiative, judgment, discretion and project management abilities with a focus on accuracy. 

  • High-level of enthusiasm to work on executive projects, often in a deadline-driven environment. 

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of communications experience, preferably employee communications within an agency or corporate environment. 

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent experience required 

  • Experience managing a high performing team required

  • Experience leading best practice intranet efforts at a mid-sized company with multiple cross-functional groups and stakeholders 

  • Experience in the technology industry preferred

  • Human resources experience is helpful 

 

Additional Requirements and Details:

  • Travel required up to 10% of the time. 

  • Located and working from an office location. 

  • Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds.

  • Frequent repetitive hand and arm movements required to operate a computer.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision (working on a computer, etc.). 

  • Frequent sitting and/or standing.
