As a Director, Hardware Development in Nokia Defense, you are accountable for developing and delivering HW for Connectivity products and solutions. You will be driving the development and delivery of secure, mission-critical hardware solutions. You will build a high-performing hardware development unit and ensuring successful execution of product and customer commitments.
The Nokia Defense Hardware Director role is a key leadership position within Nokia Defense R&D organization. This role involves the HW development of Nokia Defense products as well as HW support for the maintenance. You will closely cooperate with other Nokia Defense R&D teams to understand the customer requirements, the product architecture, technology constraints and design targets for the HW development. Together with Architecture team and external suppliers you will also monitor and develop new HW technologies that can boost the competitiveness of our next generation products. Together with other ND R&D units you will continuously work on product and efficiency improvements with strong product quality mindset.
The Nokia Defense Hardware Director will need to demonstrate strategic thinking, the ability to make fast decisions, as well as take ownership to drive continuous improvement across organizations. Collaboration and communication skills are essential, as they will need to work closely with customers, suppliers and other departments within Nokia Defense. Responsibilities- Establish and lead a team of hardware architects, technical experts and hardware development engineers
- Define and execute the hardware delivery aligned with Nokia Defense Connectivity roadmap, and our design targets and customer requirements
- Act as a senior technology leader in engagements with defense customers and strategic industry partners
- Adopt best in class and future proof hardware engineering methods
- Build effective relationships with external partners and technology ecosystems to accelerate innovation and delivery.

- 10+ years of HW development experience of high-end embedded systems
- R&D leadership experience in hardware development within telecommunications or defense sectors
- M.Sc./B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering
- Strong knowledge of the Connectivity domain including Radio, Core and Network Management systems
- Strong background in Digital HW, Mechanical/Thermal engineering and HW Integration & Testing
- Demonstrated skills in successful technology innovation and/or co-creation with customers
- English and Finnish or Swedish language skills
- Candidate needs to pass/have a valid Finnish security clearance check
