LifeShare Blood Center is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Director of Human Resources & Risk Management to plan, organize, and strategically direct the full range of functions and programs of the Human Resources and Risk Management department to facilitate effective service delivery aligned with overall strategic and business plans. Oversees the Company’s comprehensive risk management program and serves as a trusted advisor to Executive leadership on all personnel and risk-related matters. Offers thought leadership regarding organizational and people-related strategy and execution; partners with Operations department leaders to champion and accelerate a culture of excellence in which employees feel engaged and inspired to delivery quality results.

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director develops strategies and engages in employee relations activities to positively influence the employee experience and build employee engagement, including conflict resolution, total rewards strategies and employee inclusion and wellbeing. They oversees risk mitigation and management policies and activities and develop and administer the Company’s occupational health and safety program.

QualificationsKNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with emphasis in business administration, human resources management or related field; Master’s degree preferred, and
- At least eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in human resources or risk management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential job duties.
- SPHR/PHR, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, or risk management certification strongly preferred
- Previous supervisory experience in the direction and coaching of other employees required
- Operates with a high degree of independence, initiative, and ethical judgment
- Must have demonstrated knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to employment (EEO/AAP), employee benefits (ERISA), workplace safety (OSHA), etc.
- Previous senior-level management experience, including strategic planning, organization development and change management
- Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality concerning Company, employee and donor information
- Working knowledge of management processes of planning, budgeting, organizing and implementing required
- Highly-effective interpersonal skills to create and sustain positive working relationships.
- Superior critical thinking ability for problem solving and decision making
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint); ability to learn and utilize the HRIS (Paycom)
- Ability to deal with the public and employees in a tactful, professional manner, maintaining a high level of confidentiality
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS / ENVIRONMENT:
- Work is generally performed in corporate office environment, with occasional presence throughout the organization
- Requires flexible hours and personal cell phone use for response to critical issues
- Position requires long periods of work sitting at desk, talking on telephone and/or using PC at desk.
- Low risk of exposure to infectious diseases from blood and blood products.
- Requires occasional travel to other centers and facilities; must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable by our commercial auto insurance carrier.
