Position Summary:
ProShares is seeking a hands-on HR operations leader to lead the strategy, design, and administration of total rewards programs, including compensation, health and wellness benefits, retirement, and leave. This role also ensures accurate and timely payroll processing, effective benefits administration, sound management of employee relations, compliance with employment laws and regulations, and consistent execution of core HR processes across the organization.
What You’ll Be Responsible For[1]:
Compensation and Market Data
- Lead market pricing, compensation analyses, salary recommendations, offer support, bonus planning support, and internal equity reviews.
- Use McLagan and other survey data to assess roles, levels, pay positioning, and compensation recommendations.
- Build practical compensation analyses and models that support leadership decision-making and are grounded in market data, internal equity, and business context.
Payroll, Benefits, and 401(k)
- Own payroll processes, controls, issue resolution, and audit readiness.
- Manage benefits administration, open enrollment, vendor coordination, employee communications, and periodic review of plan competitiveness and rates.
- Support 401(k) administration, including audits, compliance requirements, plan changes, testing, filings, and vendor coordination.
HR Operations, Data, and Systems
- Oversee onboarding, job changes, promotions, compensation changes, leaves, separations, and related employee lifecycle transactions, while ensuring processes are efficient, well controlled, and scalable.
- Maximize HR systems and workflows to improve efficiency, strengthen data quality, identify process gaps, and support scale, including thoughtful use of AI where it can add value.
Employee Relations, Compliance, and Team Leadership
- Handle employee relations matters with sound judgment, strong documentation, and appropriate escalation.
- Support policies, audits, filings, handbook updates, and related regulatory requirements.
- Lead a small HR Operations team by setting clear ownership, deadlines, standards, and follow-through while remaining personally hands-on.
What Sets This Role Apart:
- A hands-on senior role focused on the operational core of HR: compensation, systems, payroll, benefits, 401(k), employee data, compliance, and execution.
- A role for someone who wants to own the HR back office directly, not simply advise from a distance.
- Opportunity to strengthen infrastructure, improve processes and controls, close gaps, and build a more scalable HR operating model in a lean environment.
- Direct partnership with the CHRO and senior leaders, where accurate analysis, judgment, and execution are highly valued.
What You Bring:
- 10+ years of progressive HR experience with demonstrated depth in HR operations, including compensation, HR systems, payroll, benefits, employee data, compliance, and employee lifecycle administration.
- Experience using McLagan or comparable survey data for market pricing, benchmarking, leveling, salary recommendations, internal equity analysis, and compensation decisions, with the judgment to push back when requests are not well supported.
- Hands-on experience with HRIS and ATS platforms such as Paylocity, Greenhouse, or comparable systems, including improving workflows, partnering with recruiting, and getting more value from existing tools.
- Experience owning or directly managing payroll, benefits administration, and 401(k)-related processes, with a strong sense of accountability for compliance, competitiveness, and sound operational oversight.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to build compensation models, HR reports, and complex spreadsheets from scratch.
- Experience leading, managing, or mentoring HR operations staff in a lean environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail, sound judgment, discretion, and a high bar for documentation and follow-through.
- Experience in financial services, asset management, or a similarly regulated industry is a plus; bachelor's degree preferred.
What Success Looks Like:
Success in this role looks like HR operations that run cleanly and reliably: payroll is accurate, employee data is dependable, open enrollment is smooth, 401(k) administration is compliant and audit-ready, compensation recommendations are well supported, and the team operates with clear ownership and follow-through.
Compensation & Benefits:
The compensation for this position includes salary and incentive pay. The annual base salary range for this role is $195,000–$250,000 (USD), which does not include discretionary bonus compensation. Total compensation may vary based on experience, role, location, department, and individual performance.
Benefits Include:
- Competitive pay and discretionary bonus
- Paid time off
- Health care benefits (medical, dental & vision)
- Additional insurance includes basic life, accidental death and dismemberment, supplemental life, disability and legal benefit
- 401(k) retirement plan with matching contribution
- Spending Accounts (Health Care, Dependent Care, and Transportation)
- Wellness Programs (fitness reimbursement, Employee Assistance Program)
- Education assistance
- Hybrid work schedule
- Additional Programs include peer recognition, corporate matching gift
