Director, Head of Antibody Discovery

Abpro is seeking an exceptional individual to lead our antibody discovery efforts and develop a rich pipeline that leverages the unique advantages of our technology platforms.

Responsibilities:

• Lead Abpro’s antibody discovery R&D from target to IND (investigational new drug), with a focus on immune-oncology and infectious diseases.
• Execute on all aspects of antibody generation and characterization using hybridoma, single B cell cloning and display technology platforms. including target selection, hit generation and optimization, protein expression/purification, and antibody engineering.
• Provide leadership to a team of experienced scientists and lab personnel of all experience.
• Provide and maintain state-of-the-art expertise and technical capabilities in the field of biologics discovery and identify opportunities for scientific novelty and innovation.
• Provide leadership and manage discovery programs both internally and through partnership.
• Manage external partnership research and CRO activities.
• Contribute to patent filing and scientific publications for the company.

Requirements:

• Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology, or related field
• Minimum 10-15 years of experience in biologics drug discovery and pre-clinical development, of which at least 5 years in a leadership role
• Thorough understanding of the biologics drug discovery process from target validation and therapeutic concept through the transition to clinical development
• In-depth knowledge and technical expertise of a broad spectrum of therapeutic modalities in biologics, including mono- and multi-specific antibodies and other biologics
• Extensive experience with cutting-edge antibody discovery technologies, including hybridoma, single B cell cloning, and display platform
• Strong communication skills, written and oral
• Self-motivated and collaborative, with excellent time management skills
• Ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced excellence-driven environment
