Job Description
 

Gilead is seeking an experienced marketer to champion HCV Promotions for healthcare providers. In this unique role, you’ll report directly to the Senior Director, HCV Marketing and play a leadership role in shaping and executing innovative marketing strategies to optimize promotions across personal and non-personal channels for a market-leading brand.

The successful candidate will be highly collaborative, coachable, perceptive, and an analytical problem solver with a track record of success in the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry. The candidate will be comfortable making decisions in ambiguous situations, is a team player, inclusive, and manifests trust.  Importantly, the successful candidate will put patients first.

As the HCV Marketing Promotions Director you will:

  • Drive bold creative campaigns that educate HCPs and support product utilization

  • Develop compelling stories to highlight our differentiated clinical data

  • Shape the future of HCV promotions by translating data-driven insights into impactful promotional programs through personal and non-personal channels

Role Overview & Responsibilities:

  • Lead development of U.S. HCP personal promotion strategy and executional plan ensuring alignment with brand objectives and evolving market dynamics.

  • Develop and refresh HCP promotional campaigns, ensuring relevance and resonance with HCPs.

  • Create materials for HCP personal promotion in partnership with Sales Leadership, including call flows, objection handling, and sales tools tailored to a mature brand.

  • Collaborate with Learning & Development to define Sales training objectives and content as well as support execution of workshops at national sales meetings.

  • Oversee HCP non-personal tactical initiatives including but not limited to websites, social media, digital/print media initiatives, SEO/SEM, email marketing to optimize success of the brand.  

  • Deliver compelling presentations to internal stakeholders and external audiences, translating strategy into action.

  • Generate and synthesize insights from multiple data sources to inform strategic decisions and optimize promotional impact.

  • Define and track marketing KPIs, using data to drive continuous improvement and performance optimization.

  • Serve as a core team member for brand strategy and annual plan of action development.

  • Effectively manage multiple agency relationships and budgets, ensuring high-quality output and fiscal discipline.

  • Manage Medical-Legal-Regulatory review committee discussions to ensure promotional tools and communications are compliant with all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.

Competencies and Expertise Required:

  • Track record of developing successful pharmaceutical/biotech marketing strategies, with HCP Promotions experience preferred.

  • Expertise leading the development of pharmaceutical promotional tools for use in personal and non-personal promotions channels.

  • Experience collaborating with and inspiring sales team members.

  • Proven ability to leverage market insights from multiple data sources to uncover needs, informing brand strategy and translating into tactics.

  • Development of KPIs and implementation of systematic monitoring plans to closely track promotional effectiveness and optimize marketing mix.

  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills in cross-functional environments.

  • Deep understanding of U.S. regulatory requirements and their impact on HCP marketing.

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills across a variety of audiences.

  • Ability to successfully manage external agencies to develop programs and materials.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, with an understanding of budget planning and tracking.

  • Responsiveness, attention to detail, and follow-through coupled with ability to prioritize/multi-task effectively.

  • Ability to lead by example, displaying integrity, collaboration, accessibility, adaptability, sound judgment/decision making, and an entrepreneurial, solutions-oriented attitude.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and Twelve Years’ Experience

OR

Masters' Degree and Ten Years’ Experience

OR

PhD and Eight Years’ Experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical marketing, including with mature brands.

  • Field Sales experience.

  • Pharmaceutical HCP Promotions experience.

  • Advanced degree (MBA, PharmD, PhD, MD).

  • Experience in digital and e-Marketing tactics, including metrics and optimization.

  • Experience in infectious disease or other specialty therapeutic areas.

  • Experience with advocacy, health systems, and community engagement is a plus.

The salary range for this position is: $226,185.00 - $292,710.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
