The Role

Based in Mountain View, CA., NeuroPace is a commercial-stage medical device company focused on transforming the lives of people suffering from epilepsy by reducing or eliminating the occurrence of debilitating seizures. Its novel and differential RNS System is the first and only commercially available, brain-responsive platform that delivers personalized, real-time treatment at the seizure source.

We are currently seeking a  Director of Financial Planning & Analysis to join our team. This individual will be a highly analytical and detail-oriented Director of FP&A to join our growing Finance team. This individual will play a critical role in driving our financial planning, reporting, and performance management processes, ensuring leadership has clear and timely insights to guide decision-making. The Director, FP&A, will partner cross-functionally to improve processes, enhance reporting, and strengthen the systems that support financial and operational excellence with key stakeholders of investors, the Board of Directors, and management. This position will be based in the NeuroPace Mountain View headquarters two or three days a week.

What You’ll Do

Planning & Forecasting

  • Lead the quarterly forecasting and annual planning processes, including revenue, margin, and operating expense planning.
  • Partner with business unit leaders and functional heads to link forecasts to operational and commercial drivers.
  • Develop rolling forecast capabilities that improve accuracy and agility in financial outlooks.
  • Ownership and innovation of the total company forecasting model, including consolidations, scenario planning, reporting, variance analyses, etc.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Own the development and delivery of high-quality reporting packages and schedules for executive leadership, the Board, and external stakeholders.
  • Enhance visibility into business performance by creating reporting views that clarify revenue, margin, and cost drivers.
  • Provide actionable financial analyses that influence commercial strategy and resource allocation.

Process & Systems Improvements

  • Identify gaps and inefficiencies in current reporting processes; design and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, and insight.
  • Partner with systems and reporting teams to enhance financial tools, dashboards, and automation.
  • Standardize calendars, deliverables, and schedules across planning cycles to improve transparency and accountability.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate with strategy, commercial, operations, and functional teams to align financial plans with company priorities.
  • Support resource planning and cost optimization initiatives to achieve margin and savings objectives.
  • Provide ad hoc analysis and financial leadership on key strategic projects.

Who You Are

  • A proactive finance professional with 7–10 years of progressive FP&A or finance experience; prior experience in medical device or healthcare preferred.
  • Strong technical skills in financial modeling, forecasting, and reporting; advanced Excel and data management required.
  • Adept at process improvement, with proven success creating scalable planning and reporting frameworks.
  • Excellent communicator who can distill complex analyses into clear insights for senior leadership.
  • Highly organized, flexible, and able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • A team player who thrives in cross-functional settings and is willing to roll up their sleeves.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in Finance or Accounting, MBA, and/or CPA a plus; experience leading major process automation initiatives a plus.
  • Experience partnering with investor relations on guidance prep, earnings schedules, and executive materials; strong executive presence and concise writing for leadership/board audiences
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software (e.g., planning systems, ERP, business intelligence & analytics); comfort building automated, repeatable reporting
  • Ability to work independently, cross-functionally, and as part of a team.

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $190,000 - $204,000 annual
  • Bonus Target & Equity: Competitive, aligned with NeuroPace’s compensation philosophy

Compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to skill set, years of experience, and geographic location.
