We are seeking an accomplished Director of Finance to join our executive leadership team with a clearly defined opportunity to transition into the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) role within approximately six months, based on demonstrated performance and successful completion of the leadership transition plan.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a strategic finance leader who wants to move beyond managing numbers to helping shape the future of a growing nonprofit organization.

 

About the Role

As Director of Finance, you will partner closely with the current CFO, President & CEO, executive leadership team, and Board of Directors to oversee the organization's financial operations while preparing to assume executive financial leadership.

During the transition period, you will gain comprehensive knowledge of the organization's financial strategy, systems, risk management practices, board reporting, budgeting processes, grants administration, and long-term planning initiatives. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business with an emphasis in Accounting.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
  • At least 5 years of leadership experience managing finance and accounting teams.
  • Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, grants management, and audit preparation.
  • Experience presenting financial information to executive leadership and governing boards.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial/accounting software.
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • MBA or Master's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Experience within nonprofit, workforce development, healthcare, government contracting, or human services organizations.
  • Experience with investment oversight, enterprise risk management, and strategic financial planning.
