The Director of Finance Operations will oversee financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, efficient budgeting processes, and insightful financial analysis to support business decisions. This role requires a hands-on finance leader with deep expertise in financial management, preferably within construction or project-based industries, who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

The successful candidate will be highly analytical, process-oriented, and capable of working across the organization, leading teams, collaborating with executives and business units, and driving financial discipline and operational alignment. This position plays a critical role in standardizing financial practices, improving forecasting processes, and building scalable systems to support CEC’s continued growth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to the following:

• Lead the monthly financial close process and ensure timely and accurate reporting across all business units.
• Develop and implement standardized financial reporting processes to enhance consistency and support business decision-making.
• Build and maintain annual revenue budgets and rolling forecasts in collaboration with business leaders to ensure alignment with company goals.
• Provide financial analysis on key performance metrics, including margin performance, labor costs, and labor efficiency, with recommendations to improve profitability.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial workflows and operational efficiency.
• Ensure data integrity and accuracy in collaboration with support functions.
• Prepare and deliver executive-level financial reports, including variance analysis and financial trends.
• Support and optimize financial systems and tools to ensure scalability and transparency.
• Monitor compliance with internal controls and financial policies.
• Develop and maintain dashboards and key performance indicators (KPIs) to provide real-time business insights.
• Mentor and develop finance team members to ensure high performance and cross-functional collaboration.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective processes, completion of projects and smooth operation of department.

QualificationsEducation and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration; MBA preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in finance or accounting, with strong exposure to project-based industries.
• Proven track record in financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting.
• Experience with financial analysis, cost control, and business performance metrics.
• Expert proficiency in Excel and financial systems; ERP experience preferred.

Skills Required

  • 7+ years of experience in finance or accounting with exposure to project-based industries
  • Proven track record in financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting
  • Expertise in financial analysis, cost control, and business performance metrics
  • Expert proficiency in Excel and financial systems
  • ERP experience
  • Demonstrated success leading digital transformation or technology modernization initiatives
  • Strong expertise in HRIS systems (Paycom or equivalent enterprise platforms)
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities
  • Deep knowledge of HR compliance, benefits, and process optimization best practices
