Position Summary

The Director of Finance Operations will oversee financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, efficient budgeting processes, and insightful financial analysis to support business decisions. This role requires a hands-on leader with deep expertise in financial management, preferably within construction or project-based industries, who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

This individual must be highly analytical, process-oriented, and capable of working up, down and across the organization, leading teams and collaborating with executives and business units to drive financial discipline and operational alignment. The Director will play a critical role in standardizing financial practices, improving forecasting, and building scalable systems to support CEC’s growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly financial close and ensure timely, accurate reporting across all business units.
  • Develop and implement standardized financial reporting processes to enhance consistency and decision-making.
  • Build and maintain annual revenue budgets and rolling forecasts, collaborating with business leaders to ensure alignment with company goals.
  • Provide financial analysis on key performance metrics, including margin performance, labor costs, and labor efficiency, with recommendations to drive profitability.
  • Improve financial workflows by identifying and implementing process efficiencies across operations.
  • Ensure data integrity in collaboration with support functions.
  • Prepare and deliver executive-level reports, including variance analysis and financial trends.
  • Support and optimize financial systems and tools, ensuring scalability and transparency.
  • Monitor compliance with internal controls and financial policies.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and KPIs for real-time business insights.
  • Mentor and develop operational finance team members to ensure high performance and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective processes, completion of projects and smooth operation of department. 
Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration; MBA preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in finance or accounting, with strong exposure to project-based industries.
  • Proven track record in financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Expertise in financial analysis, cost control, and business performance metrics.
  • Expert proficiency in Excel and financial systems; ERP experience preferred.

Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated success leading digital transformation or technology modernization initiatives in HR.
  • Strong expertise in HRIS systems (Paycom or equivalent enterprise platforms).
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Deep knowledge of HR compliance, benefits, and process optimization best practices.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

  • Requires mobility within an office environment. 
  • Regularly required to talk and hear. Effectively communicate with others both written and orally, including using the telephone. 
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 
  • The employee may be required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and bend. 
  • May be required to stoop, kneel, and crouch.   Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.  
  • Possess good hearing, normal or corrected. 
  • The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 
  • The employee may be required to climb stairs. 
  • Must be able to work 8 hours a day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required and night or weekend shifts, as needed.
