Director of Engineering

As Director of Engineering, you’ll play a key leadership role in shaping the technical vision, driving execution across engineering teams, and ensuring high performance, reliability, and quality in all of our products. You’ll partner closely with product, design, and data teams to deliver solutions that drive growth, engagement, and business impact.

Essential Functions

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers across multiple disciplines (backend, frontend, infrastructure, data).
• Define and execute BiggerPockets’ engineering strategy, ensuring alignment with business and product goals.
• Partner with Product and Design leadership to deliver high-quality, customer-centric solutions efficiently and effectively.
• Drive technical excellence, scalability, and security across platforms and systems.
• Oversee architecture decisions and ensure technical investments align with long-term growth.
• Implement best practices for development, testing, deployment, and continuous integration.
  Manage resource planning, hiring, and performance management within the engineering organization.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.
• Provide transparency into progress, challenges, and risks to executive leadership.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and trends to inform the product and engineering roadmap.

• Data-Driven Decision Making: Uses metrics and KPIs to guide technical priorities and evaluate impact.

Education & Experience

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3–5 years in an engineering leadership role.
• Proven success managing multiple engineering teams or departments.
• Experience in SaaS, consumer tech, or marketplace platforms preferred.
• Strong technical foundation in full-stack web development, cloud architecture (AWS/GCP), and modern frameworks.
  Background in Agile development and scaling engineering organizations.
• Experience with data-driven or subscription-based products is a plus.
  Knowledge of real estate investing is a plus but not required.

Remote – U.S. based

Compensation

$185,000 – $240,000 base salary per year, based on experience with yearly bonus based on company performance
