The Role

This role will focus on electrical system design, team management and product development for kitchen appliance products. The successful candidate will have experience in analog and digital embedded design, power electronics, including both hardware (schematic capture and PCB layout) and firmware (C and ASM), preferably in consumer products or similar. This team member will participate in ideas on how to best use electronics to comply with marketing and engineering requirements and support overall development from conceptualization to implementation of new products. This engineer will be directly involved in the design and building of prototypes that will drive new products to expand and improve our costumer experience with Ninja brand products.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Define, design, build, and test next generation products from initial conception to mass production with new ideas.
  • Work independently and lead the electrical design of products. Provide directions for product development.
  • Contribute to project work directly through architecture, schematics and software design while supporting DVT/DQTP, EMC and compliance testing.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and product marketing to provide initial cost estimates for EBOM, as well as final product implementation based upon thorough analysis of product requirements.
  • Support fielded products and perform analysis of field-reported issues.
  • Lead electronics hardware and software peer design reviews for your product area. Think critically about new product concepts asking the provocative questions necessary for positive changes.
  • Design and build prototypes to test and validate new concepts or create new development tools. Generation of test protocols and test reports per SharkNinja specifications. Reviewing and interpreting test results providing feedback on product improvement solutions.
  • Contribute to the electrical engineering team by providing mentoring to junior engineers.

Functional Skills & Knowledge:

  • Solid analytical skills with a strong attention to details.
  • Experience with product development or working in a product development environment.
  • Strong ability to analyze test results, data, synthesize conclusions and communicate up and across with clarity and critical writing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) along with good sound interpersonal skills. Must be skilled in putting complex electronics technical dependencies into written form for non-technical audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership qualities and self-awareness.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team demonstrating initiative and project ownership.

Desired Technical Competencies:

  • Power electronics, switching mode power supplies, EMI/EMC.
  • Analog/digital circuit design and validation.
  • Motor drive and motor control.
  • Embedded controllers, MCU and serial communications.
  • Experience specifying embedded software and making board and MCU level hardware/software tradeoffs.
  • Experience with wireless communication standards like BT/BLE/WiFi is a plus.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering
  • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience in a commercial setting.
  • 5+ years’ experience directly managing senior and junior level engineers.
  • Experience in all aspects of electrical design: component selection, thermal derating, system architecture, documentation, test and debugging.
  • Board-level design experience with wireless chip sets and RF is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Lithium-Ion battery packs and BMS is a plus.
