Summary
The director of educational technology and innovation is a full-time, 12-month position. The director of educational technology and innovation reports to the head of school and is responsible for instructional integration of technology in Preschool through Grade 8 and related professional development for employees.
Responsibilities
- Serve as an instructional leader in the School, working to advance the School’s mission and philosophy.
- Manage supervision of the IS Team including the librarian and transliteracy integration specialist, library and transliteracy integration specialists, and instructional technologist.
- Oversee coordination of technology integration and IS curriculum scope and sequence.
- Design and implement comprehensive programs for curriculum design and professional development to support outstanding technology integration, responsible use, and continuous learning.
- Model creativity, innovation, and both deep and broad thinking about teaching and learning.
- Serve as a member of the safety team.
- Collaborate with teachers to initiate and support technology integration, design-based thinking, and flexible problem-solving.
- Design and launch new initiatives including possible summer programming opportunities.
- Work closely with the School’s IT network support company to ensure proactive planning, smooth and consistent operation of hardware, secure systems, timely upgrades, efficient support, and effective troubleshooting.
- Oversee the School’s information security program and policy.
- Oversee inventory and maintenance of instructional equipment, phones, databases, replacement cycles, capital expenditures, and PPRRSM expenses.
- Work closely with the director of finance and operations to manage the IS budget.

If extreme weather, a public health emergency, damage to School property or any other events interrupt or substantially curtail the School's regular operations, the School in its sole discretion may: (1) extend, condense, or otherwise modify the School year; (2) change the facilities in which the School's educational program, including classes, programs, activities and events ("Program") are held; (3) change the manner and format in which the School conducts its Program, including but not limited to changing from in-person to on-line instruction; or (4) otherwise modify, postpone or cease all or part of its operations
Skills Required
- Experience leading instructional technology integration in K-8 schools
- Experience supervising educational technology, library, or instructional services staff
- Proven ability to design and deliver professional development for faculty
- Experience overseeing information security policies and practices
- Experience managing technology budgets, inventory, and vendor relationships
- Strong collaboration skills with teachers and external IT support partners
- Demonstrated commitment to school values and instructional leadership
