Sundays for Dogs is a direct-to-consumer brand transforming the pet food industry with human-grade, air-dried recipes dogs (and their parents) love. We move quickly yet thoughtfully, seek truth, and obsess over making it great. Our team is growing quickly, and we’re looking for dog lovers who want to be part of our mission.

The Director of Data will build and scale the data function that powers smarter, faster decision-making across Sundays. Reporting directly to executive leadership, you will be responsible for shaping our data strategy, driving analytical excellence, and enabling teams across Marketing, Supply Chain/Operations, and Finance to operate with clarity and confidence.

This is a highly cross-functional leadership role that blends strategic thinking with hands-on execution. You will lead the development of core data infrastructure, champion self-service analytics, and unlock insights that directly impact customer acquisition, retention, inventory planning, forecasting, and overall company performance.

As the leader of the Data & Analytics team, you will have the opportunity to hire a team and set the roadmap for how data fuels Sundays’ growth.

This role is fully remote (U.S.) with periodic travel to Cleveland for team collaboration.

What You'll Do:

  • Own the vision, roadmap, and execution of Sundays’ data strategy to support company-wide growth.
  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing data team, setting priorities and structure as the function scales.
  • Partner closely with Marketing, Supply Chain/Operations, and Finance to improve acquisition efficiency, forecasting, planning, and business performance.
  • Develop dashboards, reporting tools, and data models that provide clear, actionable visibility into key metrics.
  • Ensure data quality, governance, and reliable pipelines across all core systems and sources.
  • Translate complex or ambiguous business questions into structured analytical problems and data-driven solutions.
  • Lead experimentation and measurement efforts, helping teams interpret results and drive continuous optimization.
  • Communicate insights effectively to leadership, influencing strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Integrate new data sources and enhance BI tooling to expand data accessibility and self-service analytics.
  • Identify opportunities to apply AI, automation, and predictive modeling to scale insights and improve business efficiency.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • 8–12+ years of experience in analytics, data science, business intelligence, or related fields, including experience leading a data team.
  • Demonstrated success partnering with Marketing, Operations/Supply Chain, and Finance in a high-growth DTC, eCommerce, or subscription-based environment.
  • Strong technical foundation: SQL expertise, experience with large datasets, and comfort with tools like Snowflake, Python, Looker/Tableau/Sigma.
  • Proven ability to architect reporting systems and build dashboards that drive clarity and action.
  • Strategic problem solver with excellent communication skills—able to present insights to executives and translate data into decisions.
  • Experience building data functions, setting roadmaps, and operating with high autonomy.
  • Familiarity with key DTC metrics (CAC, LTV, churn/retention, contribution margin, forecast accuracy, etc.).
  • A bias toward action, high ownership mindset, and enthusiasm for experimentation and iteration.
  • Interest in how AI and automation can expand scale, speed, and analytical capabilities.
  • Experience in remote leadership strongly preferred; ability to travel periodically for team collaboration.

What We Do

When a veterinarian and a software engineer couldn't find the perfect food for their own dogs, they decided to make it. Dr. Tory Waxman, Michael Waxman, Mabel and Sky started Sundays from their garage, launched in 2020, and now feed a growing community of thousands of dogs.

Our human-grade, air-dried food is healthier than kibble, but easier than home-cooked or refrigerated foods. Our team is working to make being a pet parent even easier and making more time to play! Sundays is reinventing food for the modern dog family.
