Role Summary
We are seeking a Director, Data Governance to own Odyssey's enterprise data stewardship, quality, compliance, and AI readiness operating model. This leader will build and operationalize a federated governance framework across corporate divisions, operational business units, and shared services. Working with business leaders, data engineering, and data science teams, the Director will turn data governance from a passive regulatory checkpoint into a business enabler: one reliable number per KPI, authoritative systems of record for master data, automated cataloging and data quality, and clear guardrails for production AI/ML.
What You'll Do
Governance Operating Model
Architect and lead an enterprise-wide federated governance model. Formalize Data Stewardship Councils, appoint Domain Data Owners across operational divisions, establish clear decision rights, and maintain decision logs and escalation pathways.
Master Data & Systems of Record
Set and enforce enterprise standards for core master data domains (Customer, Carrier, Lane, Equipment, Facility). Define and validate Systems of Record to ensure interoperability across TMS, WMS, ERP, and cloud lakehouse platforms.
Catalog, Lineage & Classification
Lead the evaluation, rollout, and adoption of modern metadata and cataloging platforms. Drive data lineage automation, discovery, and classification tagging (PII, confidential, proprietary) from ingestion to consumption.
Data Quality
Establish programmatic data quality monitoring across critical pipelines (freshness, completeness, schema validity). Define data quality SLAs and work with Data Engineering to deploy automated incident management and alerting playbooks.
Business Glossary & KPI Certification
Partner with business leaders and BI teams to curate the Enterprise Business Glossary. Enforce certification protocols for executive KPIs ("One Number per KPI") across financial decks, executive dashboards, and customer reports.
AI/ML Governance
Establish governance policies for Machine Learning and Generative AI pipelines, including input data lineage, feature store integrity, governed RAG source boundaries, and agentic audit trails.
Compliance & Retention
Work with Information Security and Legal to enforce data retention schedules, cross-border data protection policies, and regulatory compliance (CCPA, GDPR).
Leadership
Manage, mentor, and develop a team of 4–6 professionals (Data Stewards, Catalog Administrators, and Data Governance Analysts). Build a culture of data stewardship and literacy across the enterprise.
What You Bring

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Engineering, or a related technical discipline; Master's degree (MS or MBA) highly preferred

Cloud & Platform Experience
- Working knowledge of modern lakehouse and cloud data platforms (Databricks/Unity Catalog, Snowflake, AWS, Azure), data pipelines, and semantic layers

Preferred
- Experience in supply chain, freight forwarding, logistics, or transportation management systems (TMS/ERP)
