Overview
Arkadium is on a mission to be the world’s favorite games site —and data will be at the core of how we get there. We're seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Data & Insights to lead this transformation. This leader will rearchitect our data function to be a high-impact, AI-powered capability that delivers business-critical insights, empowers internal stakeholders with self-service tools, and unlocks new commercial opportunities.
You’ll lead a small, mighty team of analysts and engineers to build scalable data systems, automate insight delivery, and help position data as a value-generating product—not a cost center. This is a high-visibility role that partners directly with senior leadership and contributes to company-wide growth and innovation.
ResponsibilitiesModernize Our Data Infrastructure
- Lead the design and build of a modern, cloud-native data platform (e.g., Databricks, Power BI, Azure, GCP/AWS, Snowflake)
- Automate data ingestion, transformation, and reporting to eliminate manual tasks and reduce lag
- Ensure strong data governance, integrity, and compliance with GDPR standards
Enable AI-Powered, Self-Service Analytics
- Roll out real-time dashboards, embedded insights, and smart alerts across teams
- Empower internal users with intuitive tools that promote faster, autonomous decision-making
- Leverage AI to surface trends, predict outcomes, and drive operational efficiency
Monetize Our Data Assets
- Develop the strategy for packaging data and insights into scalable data products
- Run pilots to test external use cases and assess commercial viability
- Collaborate with legal, product, and engineering to ensure compliant, ethical use of data
Deliver Strategic Insights at the Executive Level
- Translate complex data into clear narratives to support company priorities and C-suite decisions
- Build forecasts, segmentations, and models that shape product, marketing, and finance strategies
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership, identifying risks and opportunities before they emerge
Lead & Grow a High-Impact Team
- Manage and develop a lean, cross-functional data team (analysts + data engineers)
- Foster a culture of innovation, delivery, and continuous improvement
- Define and execute a long-term roadmap for data at Arkadium
Success Metrics
This role is measured by its direct contribution to Arkadium’s growth and operational leverage. You will own and drive:
- Automation & Efficiency: % of manual data workflows automated; reduction in reporting time and latency
- Adoption & Insight Delivery: % of teams using self-service tools; number of AI-driven insights implemented across the business
- Data Commercialization Readiness: Number of monetization pilots launched, projected revenue from data product opportunities
- 8+ years of experience in data and analytics leadership roles, preferably in gaming, consumer tech, or digital media
- Expertise in building modern data platforms and delivering AI-powered, real-time analytics
- A commercial mindset with experience turning data into products or revenue streams
- Excellent communication skills with a track record of influencing at the executive level
- The ability to lead small, nimble teams while driving toward long-term vision and outcomes

This role is open to candidates based in Portugal. Business hours are 9-18 WEST (UTC+1). For candidates based in the Lisbon area, we are adopting an hybrid work model and this role requires in-person presence. For candidates located outside the Lisbon area, a different cadence of in-person presence will apply, depending on proximity to our office.
