Position Summary

Veracyte is seeking an experienced and strategically driven Director of Corporate Communications to lead all external communications efforts for the company. Reporting to the SVP of Corporate Marketing and Communications, this role will shape and deliver our public voice—managing media relations, corporate messaging, executive visibility, and external content strategy. The ideal candidate is both a storyteller and a strategist, capable of crafting compelling narratives, building strong media relationships, and aligning communications with business goals and brand positioning.

Key Responsibilities

Media Relations & Visibility

  • · Lead proactive media outreach, including development of pitch angles, pitch preparation, delivery, and media relationship development.
  • · Respond to inbound media inquiries, evaluate visibility opportunities, and provide timely, thoughtful responses.
  • · Draft and distribute press releases; ensure alignment with company messaging.
  • · Prepare spokespeople with talking points, briefing materials, and media training as needed.
  • · Monitor media coverage and deliver weekly wrap-up summaries and quarterly editorial recaps with actionable insights.

Messaging & Narrative Development

  • · Develop and maintain consistent external messaging frameworks that support corporate narrative, positioning and brand strategy.
  • · Manage and update corporate-level messaging documents, media Q&A libraries, and positioning statements.
  • · Lead development of company-level narratives, storylines, and assets, including copy blocks, FAQs, videos, and web content.
  • · Develop and publish engaging long- and short-form content for corporate social media platforms that align with broader external messaging themes and milestones
  • · Develop content that supports brand visibility and executive voice for social and web.
  • · Work with product teams to ensure product narrative success with media.

Strategic Communications Planning

  • · Create and execute corporate public relations strategies, campaigns and themes each year in support of priority business initiatives.
  • · Maintain and drive the corporate external calendar, aligning announcements, events and campaigns with product, commercial, and investor timelines.
  • · Track and amplify major milestones such as scientific publications, conference presentations, and data announcements.
  • · Monitor market messages and communications trends to make recommendations.
  • · Collaborate with product and commercial teams to ensure consistency of message across functions and channels.

Reputation & Thought Leadership

  • · Identify and manage corporate award submissions and executive speaking opportunities to elevate visibility and credibility.
  • · Partner with internal stakeholders to define topics, prepare submissions, and coordinate participation in high-impact events.
  • · Partner with HR on recruitment brand
  • · Identify influencers in key areas to cultivate external spokespeople, partners and programs.

Governance & Approvals

  • · Route all external-facing materials through appropriate internal review cycles; ensure timely approvals and message integrity.
  • · Manage versions, content routing processes, and documentation of final approved materials.
  • · Maintain the crisis communications framework in partnership with legal and leadership teams.

Who You Are

  • · Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field; advanced degree a plus.
  • · 10+ years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, or external affairs, preferably in healthcare, diagnostics, biotech, or a regulated industry.
  • · Proven track record in media relations, messaging development, and managing high-impact communications programs.
  • · Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • · Strong project management and organizational abilities with experience managing multiple initiatives in a matrixed environment.
  • · Comfort working cross-functionally and at all levels of an organization, including with senior leadership.

Preferred Experience

  • · Familiarity with press release issuing tools, social media publishing tools, media monitoring platforms (e.g., Cision, Meltwater).
  • · Experience translating scientific or technical content into accessible, high-impact stories.
  • · Background supporting product and brand communications in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.

The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units. Veracyte is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
