Job Summary:
The Director of Contract Compliance ensures that the organization strictly adheres to all terms, conditions, and regulations associated with its funding sources, including government grants (federal, state, and local), private foundations, and corporate partnerships. This role acts as the bridge between program, finance, data team, and fundraising, safeguarding the organization’s reputation, funding eligibility, and financial health.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

- Contract Review & Risk Management

• Review all incoming grants, cooperative agreements, debt covenants and contracts to identify compliance risks, reporting deliverables, and special conditions
• Coordinate contract alignment meetings across impacted stakeholders.
• Translate complex grant language into actionable summaries for program, fundraising, data and finance teams.
• Serve as one of the primary points of contact for external auditors and grant officers regarding contract compliance matters.

- Monitoring & Internal Auditing

• Design and implement internal monitoring systems to ensure program activities align with donor intent and regulatory frameworks.
• Conduct routine internal audits of program files, client eligibility and organizational processes to proactively catch and correct discrepancies.
• As necessary, monitor subcontractor and sub-grantee compliance, ensuring partner organizations meet the same rigorous standards.

- Reporting & Documentation

• Collaborate with the fundraising, program, data and finance teams to ensure the accurate, timely submission of all narrative and financial compliance reports.
• Coordinate the creation and submission of responses to monitoring reports to external funders and partners.
• Maintain a centralized, audit-ready digital repository of all active and historical contracts, amendments, and compliance approvals.

- Training & Capacity Building

• Provide ongoing training and technical assistance to program staff regarding compliance requirements, allowable costs, and documentation standards.
• Partner with program, finance, human resources and other organizational teams to develop and update organizational policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Oversee changes to SOPs that reflect shifting regulatory landscapes.

- Additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Non-Profit Management, Finance, Legal Studies, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience managing contract compliance, grant administration, or auditing within the nonprofit sector.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Meticulous attention to detail with an analytical mindset.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain complex regulations to non-technical staff.
• High ethical standards and a commitment to transparency.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace, cloud based EHR/client databases.
• Familiarity with government funding regulations and contracts.

Physical Demands:

Salary Range:
$90,000-$115,000 per year.
