HELP US TELL THE STORIES THAT MATTER.

Every day across Moorings Park Communities, something meaningful happens. A resident reaches a new milestone. A partner delivers an extraordinary act of service. An innovation advances successful aging. A leader needs to turn complexity into clarity.

We are looking for the person who can find those moments, shape the message, and make sure the right people hear it.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As Director of Communications, you will lead the communications center of excellence for Moorings Park Communities. You will advise executives, partner with community leaders, guide resident and family communications, strengthen our public reputation, and create systems that make communication more consistent, strategic, and trusted.

THIS IS MORE THAN A CONTENT ROLE

  • Turn complex operating information into clear, useful communication.
  • Help executives prepare for the moments when every word matters.
  • Shape resident newsletters, presentations, strategic messages, and enterprise communications.
  • Lead public relations, storytelling, crisis support, and reputation-building efforts.
  • Establish standards, governance, editorial rhythms, and disciplined workflows.
  • Capture the great that happens every day and give it the audience it deserves.

WHO WILL THRIVE HERE?

A strategic communicator who is equal parts writer, advisor, editor, storyteller, coach, and calm presence. Someone who can move from a Board presentation to a resident update, from a media opportunity to an urgent message, without losing clarity, judgment, or voice.

JOB SUMMARY: The Director of Communications leads Moorings Park Communities' enterprise communications function and serves as a strategic advisor to executive leadership, Executive Directors, TrueSpan, the Foundation, and department leaders. The Director is responsible for internal clarity, executive messaging, communications governance, resident and family communications, public relations, crisis communications, and organizational storytelling across all Moorings Park Communities and business lines.

This leader translates complex operational and strategic information into clear, timely, polished communications while ensuring operational leaders retain ownership of decisions, facts, and final approvals. The Director builds a consistent communications system that strengthens resident satisfaction, partner engagement, public reputation, and organizational confidence.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Create and execute an enterprise communications strategy aligned with organizational priorities, mission, values, brand standards, and business objectives.
  • Serve as communications advisor to the Executive Leadership Team, Executive Directors, TrueSpan leadership, the Foundation, and department leaders.
  • Lead message development, writing, editing, tone, audience segmentation, channel selection, timing, visual presentation, and distribution planning.
  • Establish communications governance, style standards, review protocols, templates, editorial calendars, approval processes, and message archives.
  • Develop executive communications, including leadership emails, speeches, talking points, presentations, Board communications, video scripts, and public statements.
  • Lead resident and family communications for operational updates, policy changes, construction updates, service enhancements, significant concerns, and enterprise initiatives.
  • Oversee community newsletters, TrueSpan content, resident presentations, town halls, institute-level memos, partner communications, and high-visibility publications.
  • Provide counsel for sensitive issues, reputational risk, organizational change, emergencies, and crisis response.
  • Lead proactive public relations and media relations, including story development, press releases, media materials, interview preparation, and reputation-building opportunities.
  • Identify and amplify resident achievements, partner accomplishments, community partnerships, volunteer efforts, clinical excellence, innovation, philanthropy, and organizational milestones.
  • Oversee communications production across digital, print, presentation, photography, video, web, social, email, and other approved channels.
  • Lead and develop communications team members and manage external writers, designers, photographers, videographers, public relations partners, and other vendors.
  • Manage communications budgets, vendor scopes, schedules, deliverables, quality, and performance standards.
  • Monitor communication effectiveness, resident and partner feedback, engagement, message consistency, public relations results, and continuous-improvement opportunities.
  • Protect confidential information and exercise discretion when handling executive, resident, partner, legal, operational, or reputational matters.
