The Director, Communications will lead the development and execution of internal and external communications strategies related to crises, issues management, reputation protection and incident response across Honeywell. This role serves as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and partners closely with Legal, Human Resources, Government Relations, Investor Relations and business communications teams to ensure accurate, timely, and consistent communications during critical events.

The ideal candidate is an experienced communications professional with exceptional judgment, strong media relations skills and a demonstrated ability to navigate complex and sensitive situations in a corporate environment. This role requires flexibility to respond to emerging issues outside normal business hours and the ability to lead high-stakes communications efforts in a fast-moving, global environment.

Prior experience supporting financial communications, investor-related announcements, earnings and/or M&A transactions is a plus.

You will report directly to our Sr Director, Communications and you’ll work out of our Charlotte location on a Hybrid work schedule.


Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Media & Reputation Management

  • Develop reactive and proactive communications strategies to protect and enhance Honeywell’s reputation
  • Draft and oversee media statements, holding statements, FAQs, talking points, executive communications and stakeholder messaging
  • Manage media inquiries and serve as a spokesperson when appropriate
  • Monitor emerging issues and media coverage to identify potential reputational risks
  • Partner with external agencies and monitoring vendors to track and assess impact

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Legal, Security, HR, Government Relations, Investor Relations, and business leaders as needed to develop integrated response strategies
  • Ensure communications align with corporate policies, regulatory requirements and disclosure obligations
  • Build strong relationships across Honeywell’s global communications organization to share best practices and elevate crisis readiness

Analytics & Continuous Improvement

  • Measure communications effectiveness through media monitoring, sentiment analysis and performance reporting
  • Leverage data, analytics and AI-enabled tools to improve response speed and effectiveness
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen crisis preparedness and communications capabilities across the organization



Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE

  • 10+ years of experience in leading crisis communications
  • Proven track record in developing and executing successful communication strategies
  • Experience in managing media relations and crisis communication
  • Familiarity with crisis management frameworks, reputation management, and risk communications
  • Flexibility to support crisis and issues management activities outside of normal working hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, when necessary
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills
