Position Summary:

The Director of Communications, Marketing & Public Relations leads the development and execution of strategies that promote St. Philip’s mission and brand. This role will oversee all marketing, communications, and PR activities, ensuring consistent messaging across digital, print, and media channels. The Director serves as the organization’s media representative, manages crisis communications, and collaborates with leadership to enhance public perception and engagement. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement an annual communications plan for school and community audiences. 
  • Lead marketing, communications, and PR initiatives, including publications, media relations, social media, and website content. 
  • Serve as the organization’s media representative and manage relationships with journalists and media outlets. 
  • Oversee branding and design standards for all print and digital materials. 
  • Provide strategic counsel to internal departments to ensure consistent messaging. 
  • Manage crisis communications and respond professionally to challenging situations. 
  • Analyze communication impact and report outcomes to leadership. 
  • Supervise and develop a communications team, ensuring quality and consistency across all platforms. 

Essential Qualifications:

  • The ability to take knowledge and transform it into exciting and useful messages and disseminate it to the right audiences through the best distribution channels is critical. 
  • Highly collaborative style; experience developing and implementing communications strategies 
  • Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills 
  • A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently 
  • Relationship builder with the flexibility and finesse to "manage by influence" 
  • High energy, maturity, and leadership with the ability to serve as a unifying force and to position communications discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels. 
  • Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters.
  • Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives 

Required Education and Abilities

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field.

10+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or PR 

Demonstrated expertise in writing, editing, and verbal communication skills. 

Proven leadership and strategic planning abilities. 

Experience with media relations, branding, and digital campaigns. 

Additional Knowledge Skills & Experience Desired

 Experience in a nonprofit organization preferred

 Masters degree a plus. 

Physical Requirements

 Normal physical activity including some bending, pushing, pulling, and lifting and carrying, which may range up to 35 lbs. upon occasion. 


Skills Required

  • Demonstrated expertise in writing, editing, and verbal communication
  • Proven leadership and strategic planning abilities
  • Experience with media relations, branding, and digital campaigns

  • Ability to develop and implement communications strategies and manage multiple initiatives
  • Experience in a nonprofit organization
  • Master's degree
