Director of Basketball Operations

Reporting to: Head of Basketball, North America

Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

Location: Atlanta, GA - 3 days per week in office. Plus travel within the US

Salary: $110,000 to $125,000 base salary,plus bonus and benefits package

What's the Job About?

Hi, I'm Jake, Head of Basketball here at Hawk-Eye. I'm looking for a Director of Basketball Operations to lead the Basketball Operations group, working closely with me to ensure the sustainable and successful delivery of our tracking and officiating services to the NBA, G League, WNBA, and Euroleague, which underpin NBA Team Analytics and the future of officiating.

You will manage all operational phases of basketball data delivery, collaborating with other North American Operations Directors to ensure flawless execution and strategic planning, driving Hawk-Eye's growth and technological innovation.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Team Leadership and Development:

    • Lead and develop Operations Managers, Leads, and Coordinators, ensuring effective training and support.

    • Set staffing levels and manage logistics/scheduling.

    • Embody Hawk-Eye values in all decision-making.

  • Operational Excellence and Delivery:

    • Ensure flawless service delivery, driving operational improvements and efficiencies.

    • Manage data delivery, quality, and processes (internal/external).

    • Oversee large-scale operational projects.

    • Drive continuous improvement of technologies, working with UK/US Tech teams.

  • Strategic Planning and Financial Management:

    • Strategic oversight with a focus on planning for 12+ months ahead, including scheduling and resourcing decision-making.

    • Align departmental operations with Basketball group's growth objectives.

    • Manage budget, financial reviews, and cost optimisation for maximum efficiency.

    • Enhance profitability and sustainable growth by optimising costs and challenging existing operational models.

    • Understand our customer strategies and, with a comprehensive knowledge of our core technology, offer solutions to further add value to the Basketball group and commercials.

Your Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Proven Leadership & Operational Expertise: 7+ years of project/operational management experience within a reputable, branded organization.

  • Strategic Team Management: 5+ years of experience leading teams through subordinate managers and fostering collaboration across diverse functions to achieve shared objectives.

  • Basketball Acumen: In-depth knowledge of and a strong passion for the game of basketball.

  • Exceptional Communication: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both vertically and horizontally within an organization.

  • Emotional Intelligence & Constructive Feedback: High emotional intelligence, coupled with a proactive approach to providing and receiving meaningful feedback.

  • Superior Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational skills, including meticulous attention to detail, adeptness at multitasking, and proficiency in report development.

  • Rapid Learning & Technical Proficiency: Proven ability to quickly acquire new knowledge and become a subject matter expert in emerging technologies.

  • Customer Experience Focus: Deep understanding of end-to-end customer experience integration and dependencies.

  • Financial & Process Optimization: Experience managing budgets and implementing both new and established processes to reduce costs.

  • Independent Problem-Solving: Ability to solve complex problems independently and logically under pressure.

  • Client Relationship Management: Proven ability to engage in strategic conversations with clients, ensuring contract retention and technological leadership.
