Our founders Maarten and Dimitri started Loop back with a big idea. And a chronic ringing in their ears. Since then, we’ve helped more than 3,500,000 customers around the world to find quiet, enjoy great experiences and keep unwanted noise at bay.
In 2023 we grew from almost 100 Loopers to over 250 people. And that’s a number we would have to keep updating every month, as we are planning to double the team once again, this year.
Our headquarters are based in Antwerp, but with hubs in Amsterdam, Shanghai, and New York, we’re dotted all over the globe.
Not to brag about it, but we’ve recently won the EY Scale up of the year award, the Deloitte Fast50 award (for the second year in a row) and a couple of other amazing (international) prices. The New York Times named us ‘best earplugs for concerts’ and thousands of noise-sensitive customers call us a ‘life changer’.

About the role
Imagine this, steering the wheel of AI within one of the faster growing scale-ups out there. Making sure our whole company lives and breathes technology and always looking for ways to innovate or speed up our processes. We're in search of a strategic, visionary leader to enhance our technology and AI team as our Director AI.
In this role, you will be responsible for building and leading a dynamic team of up to 10, driving the implementation of cutting-edge AI projects that will revolutionize our internal processes and enhance our customer’s experience. You’ll support our business leaders and the different departments in efficiency efforts by offering tech and AI solutions advocating a data driven approach throughout the company. As the Director of AI, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of artificial intelligence within Loop Earplugs!

What you’ll do
- AI Strategy: develop and execute a visionary AI strategy that resonates with Loop Earplugs' mission enhancing internal operational efficiency.
- Leadership: you’ll build, mentor and lead a team of AI specialists, fostering a culture of creativity and perpetual learning.
- AI-advocate: cultivate a proactive, data-driven culture by promoting data literacy and encouraging the use of data in decision-making processes across all departments.
- Stakeholder management: collaborate with department leaders to understand their needs and provide insights that enable informed decisions on AI solutions.
- Integration and Productivity: seamless integration of AI across all departments, elevating productivity and transparency.
- Industry leadership: Keep us at the forefront of AI advancements, positioning Loop as a leader in the field.
- Project Management: Oversee AI projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with our strategic vision.
How you’ll do it
- You hold an advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, or equivalent by experience.
- You bring a minimum of 6 years of experience in people management, coupled with a robust track-record in building and/or implementing AI solutions.
- You have worked on innovations in GenAI and can showcase AI-project implementations through projects, publications, patents, or roles in AI initiatives.
- Display expertise in resource allocation, budget management, and successful project delivery.
- Exhibit proficiency in creative problem-solving and a keen understanding of user experience design principles.
- Showcase the ability to translate AI capabilities into tangible business benefits and practical applications.
Location
- Our preference is to have this person work out of either our hub in Antwerp or Amsterdam, where most of our technical and leadership team is based. We can provide relocation assistance to these locations.
- That said, we are open to the right remote candidate, but we value collaboration and teamwork. For new hires outside Amsterdam or Antwerp for leadership positions, we require them to be onsite at least a few days each month and for one week each quarter for our strategy week. With most of the team in these two hubs, we prefer candidates to be working in the same time zone and within an economical travel distance.
