About the Position
The Director, Administration and Travel Management is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight for all global administrative functions, including overseeing organizational travel operations, budget, and risk management for Internet Society (“ISOC”). This role ensures that administrative services and travel management are developed and delivered with consistency, efficiency, and high standards of service across ISOC and Internet Society Foundation (“Foundation”).
The Director will be a hands-on leader, providing day-to-day oversight of the admin team, aligning resources with organizational priorities, and ensuring streamlined travel oversight for staff. The position is also accountable for ensuring robust risk management protocols are in place for all organizational travel.

Key Responsibilities
Day-to-Day Management and Oversight of Administrative Operations
- Supervise and lead the administrative staff of ISOC, including hiring, training, and performance management
- Work closely with the Foundation’s Manager of Administration to ensure consistent administrative processes and policies across ISOC and the Foundation.
- Develop and manage administrative policies and operational processes to improve efficiency and communication.
- Assess and improve tools and processes used for prioritizing and delegating responsibilities and service requests from various stakeholders.
- Manage administrative staff’s workloads to ensure coverage for key functions.
- Oversee the administrative operations budget, resource allocation, and professional development investments.
Travel Oversight and Risk Management
- Establish and manage a centralized and comprehensive travel management program, ensuring efficiency, travel safety, and compliance with policies.
- Manage travel policies, including the approval process, expense reporting, and safety protocols, and implement heightened reviews for high-risk destinations.
- Assess and implement tools for streamlining travel request and approval processes.
- Negotiate and manage corporate agreements with travel agencies and other vendors, including consulting support for travel risk assessment and management.
- Oversee the implementation of protocols and tools for monitoring global events, real-time travel advice, and tracking all traveling staff, and provide regular reports to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).
- Conduct thorough risk assessments for all travel destinations, considering risks in political, health, environmental, and cultural differences.
- Develop and implement risk assessment and management protocols for global events and travel.
- Develop and maintain emergency response protocols and crisis management procedures, and ensure staff adhere to check-in requirements during global assignments or high-risk travel.
- Provide proactive training and pre-trip briefings on safety best practices and local customs.
- Partner with Finance, IT Security, and Program teams to ensure travel policies align with organizational risk management frameworks.
- Collaborate with People & Culture in implementing country-specific risk assessment and management for the countries where the global staff are based.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in administration, operations, or organizational support roles, with at least 5 years in leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and manage distributed teams in a global, matrixed organization.
- Strong knowledge of international travel management, including vendor contracting, risk assessment, and traveler tracking systems.
- Proven success in implementing process improvements and driving operational excellence.
- Excellent organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
- Experience managing budgets and resource planning.
- Comfort working in fast-paced, mission-driven, and multicultural environments.
- Ability to travel internationally as needed

Compensation and benefits for this position will be paid in local currency and based on the country and geographic location’s local salary and benefits market data for the position. Exact pay will be based on factors including but not limited to relevant qualifications, experience, geographic location, education, business and organizational needs.
