The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Digital Software Engineering Architect to join a proprietary Air Dominance program in Berkeley, MO. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.
This architect will oversee a team of 60 DevSecOps and Digital Software Engineers that support a variety of tools, languages, platforms, and requirements on a proprietary program. This individual will work alongside chief engineers to drive architectural decisions, work scope, planning efforts, and execution across DevSecOps teams
Position Responsibilities:
- Define, document, and enforce software engineering standards across the team - coding conventions, branching strategies, code review practices, testing requirements, and definition of done
- Work alongside chief engineers to drive architectural decisions across DevSecOps teams
- Own the translation of digital engineering requirements and architectural decisions into executable team-level initiatives
- Facilitate the planning and execution of software engineering efforts across 60 DevSecOps software engineers
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for requirements clarification between the chief engineers, IPT leads, and the DevSecOps team
- Design and lead rollout plans for new tools, frameworks, platforms, and engineering practices across the team
- Continuously evaluate the team's engineering processes and identify high-leverage improvements to reduce friction, rework, and delivery risk
- Serve as a senior technical mentor to mid-level engineers, accelerating their growth and reducing dependence
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
- Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
- Bachelor's Degree
- 9+ years of experience programming in C, C++, C#, Python, Java, or Ada
- 6+ years of experience leading an Agile team using Agile methodologies
- 6+ years of experience working with DevSecOps technologies such as Kubernetes, Cloud services, GitLab, Terraform, etc.
- Experience with managing and/or leading a team either formally or informally, with the ability to provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and team skills
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 14+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor's Degree and 18+ years of directly related work experience OR 22+ years of related, relevant experience
- Ability to work in a multi-tasking environment while supporting multiple concurrent activities
- Experience in Defense/Aerospace
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
- Knowledge of networking principles
- Knowledge of required levels of rigor for safety-critical software
