Job Description1. Assists in defined food preparation, serving of meals and cleaning duties according to proper procedures, using various dietary equipment and supplies, as assigned by the Registered Dietitian
2. Understands and follows procedures related to all duties or special assignments as directed by the Registered Dietitian.
3. Maintain confidentiality of participant information.
4. Maintain and update all participant diet information as communicated by the Registered Dietitian.
5. Communicate clearly to Registered Dietitian, other staff members, catering and vendor representatives.
6. Meet scheduled meal and snack times.
7. Receive and store food and supplies.
8. Check food and nutritional supplement items for proper rotation, storage and re-order.
9. Follows reporting procedures for the following:
a. Observed participant concerns.
b. Supply and equipment needs.
c. Damaged, unsafe, malfunctioning equipment.
d. Conditions related to breeding insects, rodents, or other vermin.
1. Friendly and enjoy working with the elderly.
2. Previous institutional dietary service experience is preferred. Must have experience with special dietary needs including therapeutic diets, texture modifications, thickened liquids and adaptive eating equipment.
3. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
4. Previous food handling and food safety experience is preferred.
5. Numerical ability for recipe preparation and proper measuring of cleaning agents and chemicals.
6. Adequate strength, endurance and coordination to meet the strenuous physical demands of such responsibilities as preparing food items, carrying quantity foods, loading meal carts, serving meals, handling, washing and storing dishes, operating dietary equipment and cleaning assigned work areas.
7. Coordination and dexterity for preparing food and operating dietary equipment safely.
8. Ability to work in an area that is often very hot/cold.

Senior CommUnity Care of North Carolina is a comprehensive health care program and PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) provider for seniors in Wake, Durham, and Granville counties. It delivers holistic, person-centered care through a multidisciplinary team, providing primary medical care, rehabilitation, and in-home services to help older adults live independently at home and avoid nursing home placement.
