The Position
The Diagnostics and Precision Health Lead will be responsible for developing and implementing a diagnostics and precision health focused strategy, aligned closely with Novo Nordisk's overarching business objectives. This role will drive customer impact by deepening the understanding of the customer journey and associated diagnostic touchpoints, providing strategic guidance to the therapeutic area team, fostering innovation, and ensuring the integration of diagnostics into broader healthcare solutions. Be instrumental in navigating the evolving landscape of healthcare and technology integration. This is a senior level strategic thinker who is leading a complex role in understanding current diagnostic ecosystem, market development related to diagnostics and more efficient approaches to finding patients.
Relationships
Reports to Integrated TA Strategy Lead. Collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, including therapy area marketing teams, global commercial team (cardio renal and emerging therapy area), portfolio strategy/BD&L, analytics, technology/IT, medical, market access and policy/advocacy (MAPA), and R&D to align diagnostics and precision health initiatives with customer needs and incorporate into broader marketing strategies. Depending on the complexity and scale of work this role will have reporting lines in the future as more CVD assets are acquired and developed within the organization.
Essential Functions

  • Diagnostics and Precision Health Strategy Development: Lead the development of diagnostics and precision health strategy that aligns with NNI's business objectives and goals across therapeutic areas. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a holistic approach to diagnostics in support of the customer journey
  • Portfolio Management: Oversee the diagnostics health portfolio, including product lifecycle planning, prioritization, and optimization to achieve strategic goals
  • Opportunity Identification: Identify new diagnostic and precision health opportunities within the customer experience landscape based on a deep understanding of the customer journey and related needs within the therapeutic area market. Evaluate new partnership opportunities to support new diagnostic strategies
  • Market Access: Work collaboratively with the market access and public affairs function to support market access strategies for diagnostic products
  • Innovation and Emerging Technologies: Evaluate and recommend technologies that can enhance customer engagement, brand positioning, and overall commercial success based on latest innovations and emerging diagnostics and precision health technologies
  • Technology Partnerships and Vendor Management: Identify and establish strategic partnerships with diagnostic or precision health start-ups, technology companies and other external partners to execute effectively and efficiently on diagnostic health ideas and gain access to cutting edge solutions. Manage vendor or partner relationships to support implementation and execution of diagnostic initiatives
  • Diagnostic Health Product Execution: Drive the development and implementation of diagnostic or precision health products including project planning and product management activities. Support implementation by educating stakeholders on how to utilize the products and encourage adoption
  • Strategic Guidance to therapeutic area Team: Collaborate with therapeutic area team to align diagnostic and precision health strategies with specific therapeutic goals and enable cross-functional omnichannel engagement planning. Provide strategic guidance and insights therapeutic area team for more impactful and personalized customer engagement
  • Performance Metrics: Define and establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of diagnostic and precision health strategies. Develop best practices on how to measure customer engagement and satisfaction
  • Capability Building: Foster a culture of innovation within the organization through the development of resources that build capabilities in understanding and implementing diagnostic and precision health strategies
  • Health Systems Strategy: Supports and drives health systems strategy. Precision health and diagnostic approaches need to be embedded within the health systems ecosystem to be successful. For that reason, this leader will play a critical role in partnering with other NNI teams to drive health systems strategy
  • Regulatory and Compliance Alignment: Ensure that all aspects of the diagnostic and precision health strategy align with regulatory requirements and compliance standards. Collaborate with regulatory affairs and compliance teams to navigate regulatory landscapes
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with therapeutic area Lead, global commercial teams like CETA, customer experience strategy leads marketing, and analytics marketing teams to ensure integration of diagnostic and precision health strategies into broader marketing strategies


Physical Requirements
Approximately 20-30% overnight travel.
Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree; Master's degree in Business, Diagnostic/Precision Health, or a related field preferred
  • 12+ years of experience, including demonstrated history in the pharmaceutical or diagnostics industry, with a focus on diagnostics strategy and portfolio management required
  • In-depth knowledge of the diagnostics market, including technological trends, regulatory landscape, and competitive dynamics
  • Experience with US operations within life sciences preferred
  • Proven success in leading diagnostic health initiatives preferably in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company, healthcare provider or digital health start-up
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate and apply creative thinking to complex business challenges
  • Strategic Planning, Execution and follow-through skills required
  • Proficiency in diagnostic health analytics and software tools
  • Experience with management of external partners
  • Strong project management skills to lead and oversee multiple initiatives from concept to execution, while adhering to timelines, budgets, and quality standards
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate insights into diagnostic / precision health strategies and execute in alignment with business objectives and market needs
  • Proven track record of innovative market shaping accomplishments/high impact results (based on metrics/ROI) within diagnostic or precision health
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulatory requirements and compliance standards related to diagnostic or precision health
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey complex, emerging digital health concepts to diverse stakeholders
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills to drive cross-functional initiatives
