The Role

Dark Wolf Solutions is seeking a DevOps and Collaboration Tools Engineer to join our team and play a crucial role in managing and optimizing our collaboration tool infrastructure. This role will focus on deploying, managing, and maintaining our enterprise-level Atlassian Jira, Confluence, and Mattermost platforms, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security. You will be responsible for designing and implementing robust infrastructure-as-code solutions using Terraform/OpenTufu, Ansible, ArgoCD, and GitOps principles to automate deployments and streamline our continuous delivery workflows. This position requires a deep understanding of Kubernetes, AWS cloud services, and a strong commitment to automation and operational excellence. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Deploying, managing, and upgrading collaboration platforms, including Atlassian Jira, Confluence, and Mattermost, in enterprise environments, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Designing and maintaining Kubernetes-based deployment architectures for high availability and scalability across medium to large enterprise infrastructures.
  • Managing and optimizing AWS cloud environments leveraging services such as EKS, S3, KMS, EBS encryption, and multi-tier load balancing strategies.
  • Implementing infrastructure-as-code using Terraform/OpenTufu, Ansible and continuous delivery workflows using ArgoCD and GitOps principles.
  • Creating, managing, and versioning Helm Charts for automated and repeatable application deployments.
  • Developing and maintaining secure backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure business continuity.
  • Monitoring system performance, availability, and resource usage, ensuring SLAs are met across all collaboration platforms.
  • Implementing and configuring Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence, and Mattermost (or equivalent) across disparate environments.
  • Ensuring tool implementations meet the specified user capacity requirements, and plan for future growth.
  • Evaluating and implementing government-approved product substitutions as needed.
  • Providing full system and application management support for collaboration tools, including installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Providing comprehensive database support specific to the collaboration tools.
  • Managing software licenses, including tracking, renewals, and compliance.
  • Managing user onboarding, including account creation, permissions, and training and deprovisioning user accounts in a timely and secure manner.
  • Providing comprehensive user support, troubleshooting issues, and resolving inquiries.
  • Maintaining accurate user documentation and knowledge bases.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent technical degree; or in lieu of degree, 3 years of equivalent industry experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience using Agile and Scrum software development practices
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience testing applications developed using one or more programming languages such as C++, C#, Go, Java, Python, SQL, NoSQL, or JavaScript
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience using software testing methodologies, such as integration testing, acceptance testing, security testing and usability testing
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience cloud-computing environments to include Azure, AWS, and/or Google Cloud Platform. Minimum 3 years’ experience configuring and running compliance software
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience configuring and running automation tools
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with configuring and running test management tools
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with defect/bug tracking tools. Minimum 3 years’ experience testing web services, such as SOAP, REST, Parquet, and JSON.c.) 
  • Strong proficiency in Kubernetes (EKS preferred) and Helm-based deployments.
  • Familiarity with IAM roles, secrets management, and encryption mechanisms within AWS.
  • Experience deploying and managing CI/CD pipelines in a GitOps environment (ArgoCD preferred).
  • Excellent problem-solving and automation scripting skills (Bash, Python, or similar).
  • Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or CloudWatch.
  • Experience working with Easy Agile in Jira.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • CompTIA Security+ CE or other DoD 8570 IAT II certification
  • US Citizenship and have Secret security clearance with eligibility to the Top Secret/SCI level

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in the architecture and implementation of medium-to-large distributed computing environments
  • Experience/knowledge of software and system optimization, helping to remove potential performance bottlenecks
  • Experience with maintaining full stack application with modern technologies, intuitive user-interfaces and scalable data processing architectures using open source software
  • Experience working with Easy Agile in Jira

The salary range for this position is estimated to be between $160,000.00 - $180,000.00, commensurate on experience and technical skillset.
