DevOps

Key Responsibilities
•    Continuous Integration & Delivery: Design, maintain, and enhance CI/CD pipelines to build, test, and deploy software across multiple environments. Ensure build failures are promptly investigated and fixed, collaborating with development teams to maintain smooth code integration and release processes.
•    Infrastructure & Environment Management: Oversee development and test environment stability, including managing Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) servers and virtualization resources (VMs) to support build and deployment processes. Monitor critical systems (e.g., build agents, integration servers) and troubleshoot infrastructure issues (e.g., restarting offline servers or VM instances) to minimize downtime.
•    Release Management & Automation: Manage software releases and artifact repositories, including building and publishing container images (Docker) to Artifactory or similar artifact repositories. Coordinate the packaging of software components and delivery of deployment artifacts to various internal or client environments.
•    Operational Support & Maintenance: Participate in Development Enablement support schedules to ensure high availability and quick incident response for our applications in development environments. Coordinate OS and infrastructure patching cycles in collaboration with central patch management teams – accept, track, and close patch tasks via ServiceNow/ITSM tools. Validate that systems (Linux RHEL servers) are properly patched and restored, including verifying BigFix agent connectivity and server availability during scheduled patch windows.
•    Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with global colleagues across development, QA, security, and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration of new software components and timely resolution of environment issues. Communicate status updates, challenges, and solutions effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including external partners when required.
Required Technical Skills
•    Programming & Scripting: Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Java, Python, or similar) for developing automation scripts and tooling. Familiarity with shell scripting (Bash, PowerShell) for system tasks and build automation is essential.
•    Version Control: Strong experience with Git and related platforms such as GitHub/Bitbucket for source code management, branching, and collaboration.
•    CI/CD Tooling: Hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
•    Containerization & Virtualization: Solid understanding of container technologies (Docker) including building, managing, and deploying container images to registries (JFrog Artifactory). Familiarity with virtualization platforms and managing VM-based environments is important for our development and testing setups.
•    Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Experience with system monitoring and logging solutions to ensure application uptime and performance. Ability to diagnose build and system issues in complex multi-component environments and implement hotfixes or coordinate long-term solutions.
Required Operational/DevOps Skills
•    Operating Systems & Patching: Strong knowledge of Linux systems (preferably RHEL) and hands-on experience with system administration tasks. This includes applying OS patches/updates, managing services and daemons, and troubleshooting server and network issues. Familiarity with patch management tools (e.g., IBM BigFix or similar) and processes for scheduled maintenance windows is required.
•    Platform & Environment Management: Proven ability to manage development & test environments, including coordinating environment changes, resource provisioning, and configuration management. Comfort with virtualization (VM) management and basic cloud or on-premise infrastructure operations is expected.
•    Continuous Deployment & Automation: Expertise in automating deployment processes, from build to release, ensuring smooth and repeatable deployments (Harness). Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code or automated configuration management (e.g., Ansible, Terraform) is beneficial for environment setup and consistency, though not strictly required.
•    Cloud & Orchestration: Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker Swarm) is expected, as our environments are already in the cloud or moving to it quickly.
•    Performance & Reliability: Demonstrated skill in maintaining application and infrastructure reliability. Will be responsible for monitoring system health, quickly identifying root causes of issues (from failing builds to server outages) and implementing preventive measures to improve system uptime and performance. Experience with incident response and post-mortem processes in DevOps or SRE capacity is a plus.
Security & Compliance Skills
•    Secure CI/CD Practices: Experience integrating security scanning tools into the build and release cycles is essential. This includes configuring and using Static Application Security Testing (SAST) tools (e.g., Checkmarx or alternatives) and Software Composition Analysis (SCA) solutions to detect vulnerabilities in code and dependencies.
•    Container & Artifact Security: Proficiency with container image scanning (e.g., vulnerability scanning of Docker images) and artifact security checks to ensure compliance with security standards. Knowledge of container security platforms or scanning tools is a key requirement.
•    Compliance & Audits: Familiarity with working in highly regulated environments or with clients who require rigorous compliance. Examples include participating in code escrow and independent build verification processes with third-party auditors. The role will involve coordinating with external parties to ensure that source code escrow deposits and rebuild verifications meet contractual and regulatory requirements.
•    Vulnerability Management: Strong understanding of patch and vulnerability management principles. Should be comfortable addressing known vulnerabilities (e.g., via CVE remediation) and working with centralized teams (like CVPI – Central Vulnerability Patch Implementation) to ensure our servers and applications remain secure and up-to-date.
Nice-to-Have Skills
•    Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Familiarity with IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible) and configuration management for automated environment setup and scaling.
