About the role:

As a DevOps Engineer at StepChange, you will be responsible for managing the infrastructure that runs various algorithms running at a very high scale. Working closely with the development team to spin up and deploy new infrastructure. You’ll also be responsible for security and monitoring aspects of it while also ensuring that newer technologies are introduced into the system.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish a solid infrastructure framework and excellent development and deployment processes.

  • Troubleshooting and debugging production outages and helping the team in doing RCAs.

  • Provide infrastructural support to developers and help automate routine tasks.

  • Work with the development teams closely to gather system requirements.

  • Initiate cross-team collaboration with product development teams to design high-quality products.

  • Involvement in routine audits, upgrading of systems, capacity planning, and benchmarking.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years experience as a DevOps Engineer.

  • Automation of tasks using languages such as bash, python, etc.

  • Experience in networking.

  • High ownership and accountability.

  • AWS, Terraform, VPC, ECS, Docker, Jenkins, CDN, Elastic Beanstalk, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MSSQL, Nginx.

  • Monitoring using CloudWatch, New Relic.

  • Familiarity with IaaC tools like Terraform, Ansible, Chef, and Puppet.

  • Highly skilled in Kubernetes or Docker.

  • Experienced with modern deployment architecture for non-disruptive cloud operations including blue-green and canary rollouts.

  • Expert in AWS.

  • Knows best practices and discipline of managing a highly available and secure production infrastructure.

Skills Required

  • 6+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer
  • Automation using Bash, Python, or similar languages
  • Networking experience
  • High ownership and accountability
  • Experience with AWS, Terraform, VPC, ECS, Docker, Jenkins, CDN, Elastic Beanstalk, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MSSQL, and Nginx
  • Monitoring experience with CloudWatch and New Relic
  • Familiarity with Terraform, Ansible, Chef, and Puppet infrastructure-as-code tools
  • Strong Kubernetes or Docker skills
  • Experience with blue-green and canary deployment rollouts
  • Expertise in AWS
  • Knowledge of highly available and secure production infrastructure best practices
