GCP DevOps Engineer 

Role Overview 

We are seeking a highly skilled DevOps Engineer with strong expertise in CI/CD engineering, build and release automation, deployment orchestration, and GitOps-based delivery practices on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The role focuses on designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise-grade CI/CD platforms and deployment pipelines that support multiple application teams across environments. 

The ideal candidate will possess deep hands-on expertise in Jenkins, Jenkins Shared Libraries, GCP Cloud Build, GitOps workflows, ArgoCD, and deployment automation, along with strong troubleshooting skills to resolve complex build and release pipeline issues. 

Key Responsibilities 

CI/CD Platform Engineering 

  • Design, implement, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines for UI, API, and microservices-based applications. 

  • Develop and maintain enterprise-grade Jenkins Shared Libraries to standardize CI/CD workflows, reusable pipeline components, and deployment automation practices across teams. 

  • Integrate code quality, security, and compliance checks using tools such as SonarQube. 

  • Build and manage CI/CD workflows using: 

  • Jenkins 

  • GCP Cloud Build 

  • Git-based workflows 

  • Define and implement CI/CD best practices, standards, and reusable deployment templates. 

  • Improve pipeline scalability, reliability, maintainability, and execution performance. 

  • Improve deployment automation, release reliability, and deployment governance across projects. 

  • Support Git-based workflows and release engineering best practices. 

  • Support application deployment activities across multiple GCP environments. 

  • Troubleshoot deployment failures, pipeline issues, and environment-related problems. 

  • Collaborate with development teams during release activities and deployment windows. 

Build Engineering & Pipeline Automation 

  • Design and maintain automated build workflows for application teams across multiple technology stacks. 

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex build failures, dependency issues, artifact generation problems, and pipeline execution errors. 

  • Support build tooling and integrations for technologies such as: 

  • Maven 

  • Gradle 

  • NPM 

  • Docker 

  • Integrate automated quality, security, and compliance checks into build pipelines using tools such as SonarQube. 

  • Optimize build performance and reduce pipeline execution times. 

 

Release Automation & Deployment Orchestration 

  • Design and implement automated release workflows and deployment orchestration processes across GCP environments. 

  • Manage deployment automation for Development, Testing, UAT, Pre-Production, and Production environments. 

  • Coordinate and automate release activities for frontend, backend, and microservices-based applications. 

  • Implement deployment strategies such as: 

  • Rolling deployments 

  • Blue-green deployments 

  • Canary deployments 

  • Rollback automation 

  • Ensure deployment consistency, reliability, and repeatability across environments. 

 

GitOps & ArgoCD Administration 

  • Implement and manage GitOps-based deployment workflows using ArgoCD. 

  • Maintain ArgoCD configurations, deployment templates, and synchronization policies. 

  • Troubleshoot ArgoCD synchronization, deployment drift, and Kubernetes deployment issues. 

  • Collaborate with platform and application teams to improve GitOps adoption and deployment governance. 

  • Support Kubernetes-based deployment automation and operational workflows. 

 

Artifact Management & Environment Promotion 

  • Manage artifact versioning, repository integrations, and deployment traceability across environments. 

  • Implement and support artifact promotion workflows from lower environments to higher GCP environments. 

  • Automate release approvals, artifact validation, and deployment gating processes. 

  • Ensure secure and reliable artifact handling and deployment promotion practices. 

  • Collaborate with application teams to coordinate production release activities and deployment schedules. 

 

Deployment Reliability & Operational Support 

  • Monitor CI/CD systems, deployment pipelines, and release workflows using Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, Dynatrace, and related observability tools. 

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex deployment failures, release issues, pipeline bottlenecks, and environment-related problems. 

  • Act as the primary support engineer for build and release pipeline issues impacting application teams. 

  • Support production deployment activities and critical release windows. 

  • Improve deployment reliability, operational stability, and release success rates. 

 

Containerization & Kubernetes Deployment Support 

  • Build and manage Docker container workflows used in CI/CD pipelines. 

  • Support Kubernetes (GKE) deployment automation and release activities. 

  • Collaborate with platform engineering teams on deployment standards and operational best practices. 

  • Support microservices deployment orchestration and container lifecycle management. 

 

Collaboration & Agile Practices 

  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies including stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and release coordination discussions. 

  • Collaborate closely with: 

  • Application development teams 

  • Platform engineers and cloud architects 

  • QA and release management teams 

  • Onsite and offshore stakeholders 

  • Maintain technical documentation, CI/CD standards, operational runbooks, and deployment procedures using Confluence and related tools. 

  • Provide technical guidance to development teams on CI/CD usage, troubleshooting, and release processes. 

 

Continuous Improvement 

  • Stay updated with the latest DevOps tools, CI/CD technologies, GitOps practices, and GCP capabilities. 

  • Identify opportunities to improve deployment automation, release efficiency, pipeline stability, and operational reliability. 

  • Drive initiatives focused on reducing manual intervention and improving deployment consistency. 

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of enterprise CI/CD and release engineering practices. 

 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 

  • 4–6 years of experience in DevOps, CI/CD engineering, or release engineering roles. 

  • Strong hands-on experience with: 

  • Jenkins and Jenkins Shared Libraries 

  • GCP Cloud Build 

  • GitOps workflows and ArgoCD 

  • CI/CD pipeline engineering and troubleshooting 

  • Docker and containerized build/deployment workflows 

  • Scripting (Bash/Shell, Groovy) 

  • Experience with: 

  • Kubernetes (GKE) 

  • Build engineering tools such as Maven, Gradle, and NPM 

  • SonarQube and automated quality checks 

  • Git-based development workflows 

  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills related to build systems and deployment pipelines. 

  • Familiarity with: 

  • YAML and JSON configurations 

  • Atlassian tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and Bitbucket 

  • Cloud-native deployment practices 

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and operational support skills. 

 

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
