The Role
About Ivy

Ivy is building the world’s first programmable bank. We know the bank of the future is going to be fully regulated and stablecoin-native. We believe that the crypto folks are too afraid of full bank charters, while the bank folks know too little about crypto to pull it off. We believe there’s a trillion-dollar opportunity to launch regulated banks built on the blockchain.

Today, we bank the world’s leading crypto platforms (Kraken). Tomorrow, our platform will power global correspondent banking. And who's going to bank all these AI agents? We are certain that if we get this right, Ivy is going to be Europe’s first $1T company.

We are a team of ex-founders, early employees at unicorns, and top-tier talent from fintech and banking, and we are backed by the world’s best fintech investors:

  • Valar - Peter Thiel and the Valar team have been thinking about global money since PayPal times.

  • Creandum - Previously invested in fintechs like Klarna, Trade Republic, Pleo, and iZettle

  • 10+ unicorn founders

The Role

You are DevOps #3. You join a Lead DevOps who has laid the groundwork - now you help scale it. You'll shape the infrastructure, automation, and reliability standards that let the entire engineering team ship faster and more safely.

You own big projects and drive them autonomously. You'll build and operate the platform that everything runs on - AWS infrastructure, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, observability, incident response, end to end. You work across engineering, security, and product to turn infrastructure into a competitive advantage. You design for failure, automate everything you can, and raise the bar for what production-grade means at a bank run by agents.

You report to the Lead DevOps and work closely with the CTO and Head of Product.

Your First Six Months

Ramp up and ship a big project in your first weeks on the job:

Month 1-2: You ramp up on the current infrastructure - how deployments work, where the rough edges are, what is automated and what is not. You pick up your first big project as an IC and start shipping. You pair with the Lead DevOps but operate independently from week one.

Month 3-4: You ship your first big project - for example, PR environment deployments or multi-region infrastructure. You scope the next project on the roadmap.

Month 5-6: You shape the infrastructure roadmap alongside the Lead DevOps. You scope, plan, and drive projects as the lead. You are the person the engineering team trusts to keep the platform fast, reliable, and safe.

Who Will Thrive In This Role

We believe that throwing smart people with high agency at big problems produces the best outcomes. In the past, we have seen people succeed at Ivy with the following traits ranked by importance:

  1. Safe Hands: You can run on your own and finish the job no matter what comes in your way.

  2. Communication: You are proactively going to the whole company and make sure you get the context without getting prompted to do so.

  3. Curiosity: You dig deep into every aspect of the business and don't stop at the surface.

  4. System Thinking: You can design and build systems from scratch.

  5. Fast Learner: You pick up new domains, tools, and problems quickly and apply them effectively.

This job is for you, if
  • You will write backend code, learn new tooling, or do whatever it takes to get the job done - you don't see anything as outside your lane

  • You care as much about developer experience as you do about uptime

  • Issues that block developers are your problems, not theirs

  • You are excited about designing infrastructure for a bank that runs on agents, not on legacy systems

  • You want to own the whole problem end to end, not a narrow slice of it

This job is not for you, if
  • You think DevOps means maintaining Jenkins and writing Helm charts

  • You are a sysadmin by heart and do not step outside of infrastructure

  • You need a well-defined scope handed to you before you can start

  • You are not comfortable operating under banking-grade regulatory scrutiny

  • You need a large team around you to be effective

Hard Requirements
  • Experience: 4+ years in DevOps, SRE, Platform Engineering, or similar roles.

  • Cloud Fluency: Advanced hands-on experience with AWS (IAM, EC2, EKS, VPC, CloudWatch, etc.).

  • Kubernetes Mastery: Ability to design, debug, and operate production-grade Kubernetes environments.

  • IaC Expertise: Strong experience with Terraform (modules, workspaces, complex architectures).

  • Automation Mindset: Proficiency in Python, Go, or similar languages for automation and tooling.

  • CI/CD: Experience designing and maintaining GitHub Actions - or comparable CI/CD systems.

  • Observability: Familiarity with metrics, logging, distributed tracing, and incident response best practices.

  • Communication: You make complex infra concepts intuitive for developers and stakeholders.

Hiring Process

We have designed our process to make it as short and straightforward as possible:

  1. Screening Call - 15 minutes: Initial touchpoint to get familiar with the process and role expectations.

  2. Meet the CTO - 20 minutes: Get to know and see if there is a match in expectations.

  3. Meet the DevOps Lead - 60 minutes: Live coding challenge (pair programming) to assess your technical depth.

  4. References: We talk with people you have worked with in the past.

  5. Onsite Interview Day - 3h: You come to the office for a case study (1h) and to meet the key people from the team you will work with (2h)

  6. Offer

Between each step, we send followups within 48h of the last step. We cover all travel costs for the on-site day. Our goal is to move from application to offer within 14 days, with feedback within 3 days of your final interview.

What We Offer
  • No Bullshit: Output over input, bias for action - we move fast and follow through, customer value over internal policies. We believe in big outcomes, not titles or hierarchies.

  • Real Participation: Employees are shareholders. Every permanent employee participates in our equity program.

  • Perks & Benefits: Relocation support, visa support, the latest Apple gear (MacBook + AirPods), lunch benefit, gym benefit, a beautiful office in the heart of the city, 4x on-/offsites per year, weekly team dinner, and an annual development budget.
