The company is looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer with strong AWS operational expertise to modernize their infrastructure, tighten production support, and drive a CI/CD transformation. This is a hands-on engineering role — the person builds a mature DevOps function from the inside and works closely, day to day, with Oscar. The headline project: moving the company AWS codebase into GitHub Actions.
RequirementsMust-have:
- AWS infrastructure & operations — EC2, Auto Scaling, Load Balancers, VPC networking fundamentals, operational troubleshooting
- GitHub Actions — required. Workflow design, reusable workflows, secrets/OIDC, migrating existing pipelines in
- CI/CD & deployment automation — pipeline design and standardization, release management practices
- Infrastructure as Code — Terraform or CloudFormation
- Monitoring & observability — dashboard design, alerting strategy, monitoring cleanup and rationalization (Datadog or an equivalent tool; they may move off Datadog)
- Cost optimization & capacity planning — AWS spend analysis, resource optimization, scaling and de-scaling strategy
- AWS security — WAF administration and security best practices
- Production support — incident detection and response process
Nice-to-have:
- Datadog specifically (administration and optimization)
- Slack integrations for alerting
- Containers — ECS / EKS / Docker
- Scripting — Python or Bash
- Financial services or other regulated-environment background
- AWS certification (SysOps Administrator / Solutions Architect / DevOps Engineer Professional)
Skills Required
