Overview of Position:

The Development Specialist supports the fundraising and philanthropic efforts of Genesis HealthCare System by assisting the Foundation leaders with donor relations, gift processing, event coordination, and development operations. This role supports the overall Foundation to build and sustain relationships with donors, ensuring accurate and timely acknowledgment of gifts, and supporting the overall mission of advancing high-quality healthcare through philanthropy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Development & Fundraising Support
•    Assist with annual giving campaigns, major gift initiatives, and special fundraising projects.
•    Support donor cultivation, stewardship, and recognition activities.
•    Prepare donor correspondence, acknowledgments, and impact reports.

Donor Data & Gift Processing
•    Process and track gifts accurately and timely in the donor database.
•    Maintain donor records, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
•    Generate reports and assist with data analysis to support fundraising strategies.

Events & Engagement
•    Provide administrative support for fundraising events, meetings, and donor activities.
•    Under the direction of leadership, coordinate invitations, registrations, follow-up communications, and event materials.
•    Under the direction of leadership, coordinate annual Pro-Am Golf Event that includes sponsorship solicitation, meeting management, volunteer coordination, pro golfer solicitation, silent auction oversight, fundraising activities throughout the event, and committee management.
•    Under the direction of leadership, coordinate Annual Hospice Gala in conjunction with Hospice Gala Committee including invitation mailing, dinner and entertainment planning, decorations and flow of the event.
•    Assists with coordination of additional fundraisers including but not limited to: Hope In Motion 5k, Pickleball Tournament, Heart Alliance and Heart Symposium.

Administrative & Operational Support
•    Executes on donor engagement activities with regards to direct mail pieces - holiday, birthday, sympathy, congratulation cards, newsletters, pledge agreements, and yearend tax letters
•    Collaborate with Foundation staff, hospital leadership, and volunteers to advance fundraising goals.
•    Support compliance with organizational policies, donor intent, and ethical fundraising standards.
•    Organizes scholarship and physician scholarship programs.
•    Answers phone, greets guests, orders supplies, handles incoming and outgoing mail, and schedules meetings.
•    Works with Executive Director and Marketing to ensure website and digital sign are up to date and meet strategic needs of the Foundation and Genesis HealthCare.
•    Works as a team with Foundation Staff, Volunteer Manager, Volunteer AA, and Gift Shop Manager.
 

QUALIFICATIONS

1.    Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, or related field or equivalent experience.
2.    Experience in fundraising, development, administrative support or nonprofit administration preferred.
3.    Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
4.    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
5.    Proficiency with donor databases, Microsoft Office, and related technology.
6.    Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
7.    Demonstrates success working in a team environment.

• Demonstrates Slips/Trips and Falls Awareness.
• Actively contributes to maintaining a safe, clean and quiet environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  

1.    Works in an office environment.
2.    Will travel to other floors and to centralized files.  May be required to drive to other locations.  Answers telephone calls, uses personal computer and other business machines extensively, which requires the ability to apply finger dexterity.  Individual bends, reaches, pushes and pulls file drawers to file records and reports.
3.    Regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
4.    Vision abilities required include up close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
5.    May be required to periodically rotate shifts and regular days off.  All system employees must be willing to work all shifts, extra hours, holidays and emergency shifts as required.
